GRID 2 by Codemasters is a sequel to their previous arcade-sim racing title, GRID.
In the game, you start out as a garage racer with Mustang Mach 1, like in the first. You are essentially the figure head racer promoting a new type of racing series called the WSR.
The WSR contains just about every type of race common today such as conventional, endurance, drift, ect. and it's your job to beat major racing clubs in order to win their support for your own series. As time goes on you gain followers in a social-media esque progression system and no one really cares about that at all.
Cars:
GRID 2 offers a decent supply of cars, split into four tiers (5 including the one single indy car) whose paintjobs you can personally change to fit your tastes. Online cars can also be upgraded.

I'll be the first to say that GRID 2's physics are more arcadey than its predecessor, but that doesn't put a damper on the game's fun factor.
And for those of you PC players who absolutely must have cockpit view:
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/grid-2-cockpit-viewpoint-comes-to-the-pc-version-thanks-to-modders/
(However, we don't know if you'll get in trouble for using it online)
Race Modes
There are a few race modes in GRID 2, the only ones of which that suck is 40km Liveroutes and 30min Endurance, but no sane person would ever do that.
RACE MODE
Self explanitory
DRIFT MODE
Self Explanitory
ENDURANCE MODE
A race to see who can cover the most ground in a set amount of time (default of 5 minutes)
LIVEROUTES
Track which randomly selects different parts of a map's tracks and continues to change them through a distance determined race (default 20km)
FACEOFF MODE
Two racers go up against each other at once. person in first wins.
TOGUE MODE
Similar to faceoff, but usually done in the mountain pass tracks and if you become 5 seconds ahead/behind the opponent you win/lose respectively. Contact is prohibited and will DQ you.
CHECKPOINT MODE
A timer will start ticking down at the beginning of a race and you must add time on by driving through CPs. The person who stays in the race longest wins.
Customization
GRID 2's Customization is mostly just colorizing your choice of 50+ Pre-made Liveries for your car and selecting rims. In Online, you can also upgrade cars both in class and to the next tier. Ie: I could take a T1 Camaro and upgrade it into T2, or simply just upgrade it to within T1 specs. Upgrades are split in the categories of Engine, Drivetrain, and Handling.

I think you got the threads mixed up bro.
All fixed, phew.
I didn't know you liked racing games swefox (minus trackmania of course)

i loved grid 1, played the shit out of that game. never really tried multiplayer tho

Mp was awesome especially the destruction derby. Was a shame when they took it down though :(

I bought it when they took down multiplayer while still claiming on Steam page that multiplayer was in it. I was quite pissed when found it out.
Nonetheless, Campaign was very fun.
Liking the look of this, after seeing the MP trailer I may get it when it goes a little cheaper.
No cockpit/1st person view is a big drawback for me, enough to stop me purchasing it Day 1
Is there any video demonstrating that TrueFeel system?
I like the 5th and 6th picture.

Also, SweFox, shouldn't each bullet be on its own line in the Key Features?

How do you make real bullets?

I wonder Grid 3's handling system is gonna be.

wait, there's no cockpit in this game? is that confirmed or is that just you guys saying that because there's no video/screenshots of it?
that was a HUGE feature to grid/the dirt games. it's kind of silly to not include it.

It was confirmed, the devs said so themselves.
They're probably going to lose a lot of sales for not having it.

Everything there is a good read regarding cockpit view.

There's also no Demo Derby which a lot of people wanted and really liked in the first game.
E. There's also no assists either like ABS and the like.
I liked GRID because it was the spiritual successor to the TOCA series. Yeah, it was a hell of a lot more arcade-y but it still had the same feel to it.
But with this: first no cockpit, and then you're locked to third person? The driving seems more arcade than the NFS series and the graphics look atrocious (seriously why do you need so many shit filters this looks worse than BF3) and overall I'm just really disappointed because, like a lot of games these days, it seems like they're just using an old title to drum up a few more sales

"only 5% of Codemasters Racing game players ever used the in-car view."
I'm sorry what? From where did they gather this data? I play exclusively with the cockpit camera in Codemasters games but have never played one online. They aren't accounting for the entire playerbase - not everyone played online. Especially with GRID considering they shut it down after a pitiful amount of time.
[editline]27th April 2013[/editline]
"They are expensive to run due to the requirement for high-resolution interior textures which are seen close-up and require a considerable amount of in-game memory (to store) and processing (to render)."
thanks consoles
I always played in cockpit view, never played online. They are spouting shite out their mouths about only 5% using cockpit view.
Also, the game felt a lot less arcade style if you turned all assists off (you couldn't just turn a corner without braking)
I tried Grid a week ago. I shit you not, I actually saw the arcade version of it.
I'm convinced to play it, but I'm probably too late for that.
I really hate cockpit view because all it does is block my sight. When I use my wheel it's just pointless.
Grid was awesome , probably wait 'til its on a flash sale.
Got to play some Grid 2 at London on Saturday, shame about the cockpit but the frame rate on the game is fantastic at some points, like really really smooth, the over all gameplay is as fantastic as you know it from before, some the detail is amazing, a few of the levels are slightly open is(as in rather than just confined street races) some tracks go through forests along normal tar tracks, destruction on the cars are as awesome as ever too, the only thing I noticed was the flashback system isn't the replay system it's just a bar that let's you rewind so far but doesn't indicate how many flashbacks you have left.(also did anyone else attend MCM Comic Con in London? )
altho' lack of cockpit view is slightly disappointing, I preordered it a while back anyway because I was a huge fan of the original grid
can't wait till tomorrow
I just refound my GRID disk I got with my old 4870. I need to reinstall it and play it. I loved the visceral feel it had for street racing.
So no one's posted the BAC Mono edition of the Game?

I thought the game released tomorrow in NA?
It seems this game has hit 100% in pre-purchases, meaning if you pre-purchase it now you'll get everything that was offered for definite.
Also, I'm not sure how long it's been happening but it's available for pre-loading too, doing that now.
Wow is this game coming out very soon already?
christ time flies.
First Metro Last Light is out before I know it, and now this too?
I'm so on the fence with this game, when I got to play if I played for an extended amount of time over a week and I just couldn't get into it like I did with GRiD, the Dirts and even the F1 series. I was playing on an i5 3570k with an AMD 7870 and I was getting constant FPS problems and input lag. Obviously it wasn't a final build but it was only 2 months ago. It just didn't feel as fun as grid.
Does it come out earlier anywhere outside the EU, as I might wait to see how it performs on peoples PC's before I pre-order.

Yeah, comes out in 12 hours for North America. I've preloaded it on my desktop (i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz, GTX570) and we'll see how that goes.
just an FYI you can get it for £20.25 on Greenmangaming if you use this promo code "GMG25-55FJ7-ADQ3P" you still get some of the pre-order goodies as from the steam store but not all of them, but at only £20 I ain't bothered.
