A little back knowledge of this classical engine [release]GoldSrc, or Goldsource, is the retronym used internally by Valve Software to refer to the heavily modified Quake engine that powers their science fiction first-person shooter Half-Life (1998). GoldSrc only supported two platforms, Microsoft Windows and Playstation 2. GoldSrc is a modified version of the QuakeWorld engine codebase, which in turn is a development of the Quake engine codebase.[1] Some minor fixes from the Quake II engine were incorporated as it was developed.[2] GoldSrc is able to render in two APIs − OpenGL and Direct3D. The successor of the GoldSrc engine is the Source engine which powers Half-Life 2. Today, GoldSrc is still being used by developers. Nexon Corporation, for example, developed Counter-Strike Online by using GoldSrc.[/release] Popular Games: HALF LIFE 1 [release]Half-Life is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Software and the company's debut product. It is a remake of the Team Fortress modification for Quake, itself modified from Valve's GoldSrc engine. Team Fortress Classic was originally released for Windows on 7 April 1999 as a free addition to Half-Life.[3] A standalone version was later released with Valve's Steam system in 2003.[5] The development of Team Fortress Classic was led by John Cook and Robin Walker, the designers of the original Team Fortress modification.[/release] 3. I've always wanted to try Counter-Strike Online. I know its only in Asian countries (and it's that Pay-to-play bullshit) but it just has SO many different guns. http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Counter-Strike_Online just look at that!

i didn't know Nightfire was on goldsrc sheet
i always thought a tf2 remake on goldsrc would be fun
i always thought a tf2 remake on goldsrc would be fun
I'm trying to get a hold a Team Gabe copy so I can run it, I still got HL2 beta and it's really interesting, but to the topic TF2 would of been a combination of Day Of Defeat and Counter Strike.
Wow, I had no idea Nightfire used Goldssrc.
I loved nightfire when it came out, and now that you mention it, looking at the screenshots it does have that goldsrc feel to it. All hail ricochet though.
I mapped for Nightfire for a while, it's a good variation of Goldsrc. Feel free to ask any questions.
i always thought a tf2 remake on goldsrc would be fun
Just turn down your settings. :smug: [editline]1:46[/editline] Thats the joke
The movement in goldsrc does not feel confining (some game engine's movement is sluggish , like the iw engine ) and its solid. I also like the particles in it (like when you shoot a vending machine in hl , those are particles)

A BURNT COPY
Can somebody tell me how to convert goldsrc recorded demo's into a .avi or similar? Or even better, a full list of the commands in order for recording?
Can somebody tell me how to convert goldsrc recorded demo's into a .avi or similar? I would imagine that record "this" would work buuut I've never recorded anything in goldsrc

yeah they are.
To you guys talking about Nightfire: only the PC version used GoldSrc. Console versions used a proprietary engine. I know Wikipedia says otherwise, but Wikipedia is wrong.
Then edit it so it's right.

I remember when I got Half-Life, TFC (Hah I owned an extremely popular server with the AdminOP tools, and I was only like 8. Best admin around. :smug:), etc for free. I'm so :smug: about it.
Whaaat? Nightfire runs on Goldsrc engine? Never knew that one.
GoldSrc only supported two platforms, Microsoft Windows and Playstation 2.
Nitpicky but, Half-Life on the Dreamcast and Counter-Strike on Xbox also used GldSrc.
I remember when I got Half-Life, TFC (Hah I owned an extremely popular server with the AdminOP tools, and I was only like 8. Best admin around. :smug:), etc for free. I'm so :smug: about it.
So there were 2 servers, yours and a retarded ape's.
Mine was ruined by Drunkenf00l's scripting. He made it so that a certain admin level could let said admins add other admins, and I ran a massively strict policy that you were NOT allowed to add an admin at all. Currently the server is monitered by my Sister after a few months ago a recent wipeout of admins. Only me and my sister remain as admins due to it still getting visitors. We only had about 27 admins, but out of the hundreds of people a month (which was alot quite frankly) who were very trusted. The 27th admin was one that stabbed me in the back. Added one friend, who added two, who added two more, and two more for each person. I asked my hoster how many admins we had before we wiped it. Over two thousand were on the server as current 123773 level or something admins. And this all happened from a 3 day break. Over that 3 day break I had a surge in admins, which turned into about 400, and I couldn't stop it. I banned about 6% of the admins and removed many others, but they kept coming on, especially the ones I had just removed, they had their admin back. I blame Drunken Fool for all of this, and the VAC ban made me forgive him now. But at my servers popularity peak I was a very good 'kid' back then. Not some little guy who screamed over his mic, an actual guy like we are now. I did have a mic but I never used it (back then I hated mics but didn't mind others using it), I constantly went on and was greeted by others. We did constantly have discussions about certain 'popular' servers (nowadays it's places like EGO and Saigns.de and all that crap). I honestly, honestly miss the old days. The only reason I migrated to Source was because we had all the new fancy games, Half-Life 2, GMod 9 (found in 05, made an account in 06, missed out on 2007, and refound GMod in 08. Brilliantly amazing :v:) I look back at my server rarely, and I have memories of what it was like. :frown: Rate hearts because now I is sad. For those who just joined us 06/08/2010, AdminOP is a bit like SourceOP, but in TFC you couldn't do what you could do in GMod, well, only a couple of things. You could give yourself the BFG (or Big Fucking Gun as we called it) which was some mega explosive RPG thing You could give yourself the Entgun, which is like the phys gun, you can grab ent props You could copy an ent so you never ran out You could even save your entire contraption for next time. This is why my server was fun, we always had something on here, whether it be a Checkthrough or just some random cinema. Drunken f00l getting VAC banned is the only redemption hes gotten off me. (Thanks for the hearts, they made me happier :3:)
Played CS 1.6 last night and well I am really not use to it :( Thinking of a Facepunch TFC meet up night, anyone want to add to it?
hint: make it sv_consistency 0 due to my tf2 models i can't play on many servers due to consistency errors :saddowns:
Thinking of a Facepunch TFC meet up night, anyone want to add to it?
I would join. I mean, I've never really played TFC (just dicked around on a local server), but as long as I can be forgiven for sucking terribly I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.
