Because the horribly made TF2 Campaign Thread just wasn't enough. However, this isn't a thread where you pretend a game exists, this is literally simply a topic to share your neat ideas and what not without polluting the L4D section with "cool infected idea guys" threads. (Also, I have tons of ideas every week- I often either forget about them, create a horribly worded thread, or decide not to post it at the last second because I'm worried. So I made this thread.) Half Life Online? Go ahead. L4D story? Okay. TF2 class? Sounds good. If you can supply visual aid, go ahead. Highly recommended. Let's begin. Somebody made a Half-Life MMO thread a long time ago, and he was flamed quite a bit with "No, that's a terrible idea." Here's an idea for if that game were to actually come out. "Hero Missions" Are a special type of mission that is available if you are exceptionally, well, "Heroic." Whilst normally you go around helping the war effort, scavenging, defending, sabotaging, if you are incredibly helpful during your travels, then you may be contacted by Combine Dispatch/Rebel HQ to partake in an extremely dangerous, important mission, reminiscent of Gordon's ventures in the HL games. These can range from sabotaging a missile from behind enemy lines, to going into an antlion infested Train yard to power up a train needed to transport troops to an important location, to going on a mighty quest through the ruins of a city in order to transport vital equipment for the war effort. These are important in that they actually effect the war effort. Of course, neither side can ever win the war seeing as that would heavily effect the games and effectively "End" the MMO. (Unless they took the "Alternate universe/Non-Canon" Cop Out) However, say you failed to destroy the missile that you were sent to destroy, forced to escape. The Rebels would then launch the missile, effectively destroying a forward base, or stopping a major offensive in it's tracks. Failed to activate the train? Sorry, buddy. Time to take a break from that hero work. Let somebody else do it. Failed to deliver the component? You're done. Perhaps somebody else will find the component and deliver it in their travels. This would remedy the problem of nobody having as much fun as they would in the more action-packed single-player games, as everybody would eventually have their turn to be a hero.
I would like to be able to go through HL2 as a Spy from team fortress 2. Backstabbin', sentry-sappin fun.
I thought there were images loading in the OP, it took me a while to figure out you had just spaced your paragraphs like that. I think a HL2 MMO could be really awesome if done right. I think my idea is too ambitious though, I basically want Fallout 3 as an MMO set in City 17 (or a similar city) and its surrounding outlands, probably in the years just after the Seven Hour War when the Resistance was presumably at its strongest.

AKA Secret Valve employee steals ideas from Facepunch for new games
I would like to play Left 4 Team Fortress 2.
As long as the classes were re-balanced and the AI could deal with the individual classes differently, this would be amazing.
A HL2 RTS based on the Company of Heroes engine would be amazing. [editline]01:51PM[/editline] Rebel Army could be based off the Americans, using a similar tech tree and veterancy system, and the Combine based off the Wehrmacht Faction.
A Half Life 2 game with STALKER mechanics.
Portal 4 Dead Basically Portal and/or Portal 2, but with 4 players and all of the Infected. For laughs there could be like, an Weighted Infected Companion Cube or Infected Wheatly.
Aw c'mon guys.. Try being more creative than just merging two games... My Idea is Half life 2 official extension where you experience the cycle of a stalker, starting by "resisting" to the "change" to your "role" as a stalker, which you go and help the combine as you were equipped with special "stuff"(dunno weapons, better laser).
Flash version of Garry's Mod.

You play as Adrian Shepard, as a combine soldier. You get captured by Black Mesa scientists, who reverse brainwash you to fight for the resistance. ect ect
Valve makes an RPG.

Well quite frankly I'd like some Half-Life styled things for RailWorks (I know that's not part of the thread in a way but it's related to Half-Life :v:) I just wanna ride down the Oxford - Paddington route with a razor train :crying:

hey guys.. how about VALVe makes a whole new concept that isn't related in anyway to other games they made? How about that? [editline]04:08PM[/editline] it may still use the source engine... but seeing a game that doesn't use it would be fun.
portal with over 9000 variation's of portals

but that's not the point.... the point is the community always wants VALVe to stick to one plotline(s) and not make any new games

A survival game made by Valve would be amazing. Like you're stranded on an island populated by whatever, need to do all such and such to survive, blah blah blah. But I'm sure valve would do much better at it.

They could also implement a Hero system like in warcraft 3. Although Valve will probably make up a hell lot of vehicles for the resistance due to them having only liek Trucks. Or it Could use an engine like in brutal legend Minus all that stuff about Fans It could be in a First person perspective, That would be Cool.
The (sarcasm) makes it not dumb, right?
That seemed like pretty bad sarcasm and the (sarcasm) made it even worse.
