• What misconceptions and mistakes (scientific, etc) really bother you in games?

In games, the writers and developers sometimes do not do their research, and it shows. Some of these are really, really bothersome to some people... like shotguns being ineffective beyond 10 feet, etc. What examples can you think of that really piss you off?
Pussy Spec Ops men with heartbeat sensors.
Emptying an entire machine gun magazine on an armoured enemy and it not dying.
Emptying an entire machine gun clip on an armoured enemy and it not dying.
Hey thats just like singularity and I fucking waste all my ammo minigun on one of then and theres 2 more shooting me. Also how the m95 does like no damage to a tank its a fucking anti tank rifle!
Explosions in fucking space.
Referring to magazines as clips. :argh:
car exploding when you shoot at the window
Referring to magazines as clips. :argh:

Emptying an entire machine gun clip on an armoured enemy and it not dying.
Eheh. Heh. He he. Hah.
The Mini-14's magazine in L4D doesn't rock in like it's supposed to.
Space just kind of, I dunno, ends. Like you hit a brick wall of black and your character goes "Better turn around, I'm at the edge of the universe hurr durr!" or something, when in actuality it's just the boundary of the level.
When a space ship stops accelerating and it stops. THERE'S NO FRICTION IN SPACE! Explosive decompression. When you reload you always keep all the ammo from the discarded magazine, but all your magazines are magically full. When you reload a 50 round weapon with a bullet chambered you have 50 rounds instead of 51. WTF happened to the chambered round? Cocking the weapon EVERY TIME YOU RELOAD!
When the shotgun shell spreads more when running (or standing, etc.), instead of it just missing where I'm pointing. A shell is basically one bullet, except it splits and hits more surface, it's not going to magically hit more surface area if you're jumping around, it's just not going to hit the area you were aiming for.
All of you should play the Parasite Eve Drinking Game. Every time someone butchers biology, take a swig! Finish the can if someone goes all Superhero or gets revived using "mitochondria".
When a character can only run 15 meters before getting exhausted.
When you reload a 50 round weapon with a bullet chambered you have 50 rounds instead of 51. WTF happened to the chambered round?
This would piss people like me off because I like to have an even number of cartridges in my magazine.
Running slightly faster than npcs, and when you walk, they outrun you.
Explosions in fucking space.
If oxygen were present (such as from a leak) you could have an explosion of sorts in space.
When a character can only run 15 meters before getting exhausted.
It really depends on what game/character you are referring to, but I'll assume you are talking about FPS's like the CoD series, or the BF series. In those you are typically wearing armor, carrying a backpack full of supplies, and holding a weapon of some kind. That gear could easily add up to 50 or 100 extra pounds of weight to haul along with you. That point aside, game designers likely restrict how far you can sprint for game balancing issues. In the BF series, it makes using a vehicle much more desirable for long-distance travel.

And it takes forever to recharge.
Put the ejection on the correct side of the gun holy shit. Real guns don't throw shells in front of your face; it's on the other side of the gun for a reason.
having to cock my gun every time i pull it out.
EMP in games Don't worry a minute later everything will be working perfectly
Pussy Spec Ops men with heartbeat sensors.
Indeed, in the great manly war (World War 1 for you kids), the "Spec Ops" of those days were armed with hand grenades, first sub-machineguns of the war, and flamethrowers. Then they stormed the front and assaulted enemy entrenchements. Fucking badass
Modern main battle tanks are slow, cannot engage targets more than 300 meters away and do not have fire control systems.
In FEAR, you could slide-kick someone to death. Your foot, making contact with their foot, resulted in them instantly collapsing to the ground. It was more effective than gunfire. The melee being a one hit kill thing has been in other games too, but FEAR stands out as making it even more ridiculous. Shotgun blast? Ineffective. Kick to the shin? Lethal.
Modern main battle tanks are slow, cannot engage targets more than 300 meters away and do not have fire control systems.
Battlefield series makes an exception on this thought
Battlefield series makes an exception on this thought
You sure? The tanks in BF2 moved at like 20 miles per hour and most maps had this fog that didn't allow you to pick off armored vehicles at 1-4000 meters away.
When someone survives a fucking shotgun to the face at point blank range but a pistol shot to the foot kills them in one hit from 50 yards.
