[b]WARNING : THIS GAME IS HIGHLY ADDICTING[/b]

[release]Island Hopping is a 3d retro-arcade style platformer originally developed by one of our team members for the Ludum Dare 48-hour competition. The objective is simple: don't hit the water. The player will attempt to navigate through an ever faster path of island that vary in size, shape, and point value. When they inevitably hit the water, your distance and score (among other statistics) are sent to a high score leaderboard.

Aaaaaand we're back!
The reaction to the 1.2 release was awesome, thanks to everyone who tried it! Here are some stats from the online leaderboard:
Just over 1800 hours of total playtime (that's over 75 DAYS).
370,000 recorded runs.
28,569,847,450 total points earned
Nearly 2000 unique usernames (and lots of runs by "Anonymous")
So school is over and we can finally get back to work on a new version. This will be a complete rewrite, so it should be a lot more flexible and have a lot fewer little glitches and issues now that we're no longer working off the original (very disorderly) 48 hour code.
We'll be using a custom engine that's been an on and off project for a number of months, and though I won't bore you with the details, it should be a lot easier to work with and allow for a lot more cool stuff.
We've been going over the feedback and comments and we're considering everything; some possible features (it's a bit early to tell exactly how this will all fit together, and this is just off the top of my head) include:
New gametypes
New islands
Better UI and menu (we're using a GUI library this time, so expect actual mouse control for the menu)
Better leaderboard integration (we've noticed and deleted a few glitched/cheated scores... there will be better verification to prevent illegitimate scores)
Fine-tuned physics and mechanics
Changes to the art style (we want to keep system reqs minimal, but some changes would be nice)
Support for other OS's (Linux is likely and OSX is possible)
A map editor (this is a big maybe, but as the programmer, this is the most exciting feature for me...)
It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to get a new release out (after all, the game was originally created in <48 hours), and we'll be posting updates pretty regularly during the development, so stay tuned.
We've also got a couple of other projects that we'll be working on over the summer, so keep a look out for those as well.

A link would be pretty cool too.
Link was at the end of the video:

So it's basically like the game you play as a kid (And I still play now) "The Floor Is Lava"?
Basically, the green blocks give you points, the red blocks take away points. The grey blocks do nothing, and the orange blocks give you a bonus.

We have a thread on this
Oh well, that thread's dead.
Looks pretty cool
Bumping because this game is the shit. I'm not very good at it yet though. My friend can get over a million though. He uses a giant mousepad and uses low sensitivity for better accuracy.
set my options, go to play, and the second i move my mouse my view is flying.
check my options and find my mouse sensitivity is in the negative millions. i uninstalled. i am dissapoint that this was advertised to me and my time was wasted on this shit.
[editline]03:12AM[/editline]
tried to play it again after i reinstalled, but now i just get "island hopping has encountered a problem and needs to close!" when i try to start it up
A game like this need to be made for Android, it's perfectly small and simple for it.
Glad to see another version of this thread. I was just thinking about it a few days ago.

Sounds like a great game.

I played this a bit when the first thread was around and it's insanely addictive.
Damn awesome! I think playing on medium is the most balanced difficulty, thanks for showing me this!
Jeez I can't stop playing this.. I've only gotten 500.000 points as highest too.. on easy... :smith:
Really addicting game. Reminds of Tetris for some reason.
Downloading now and about to try it. Looks fun.
Very fun game. Addictive.
This game is fun as hell. It's one of those games that I play for dozens of hours non stop :v:
I remember this game...
I remember this, I think eXperion made up almost all of the leadrboard last time I checked
This game is really easy to mod. I changed the music to a looping part of beethovens 9'th symphony, and I made the game look really weird :v:
I suggest that you play this game with that field of view setting on 90 and mouse sensitivity on 2 or 3! And on medium!
This game is ridiculously addictive.
