Champions from throughout time fight to death for fun, for glory and for awesome. Games in Beta at the moment, you can pick up the game now and get a beta key with it. [t]http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2012/03/Showdown-Effect-2.jpg[/t] Description The focus of The Showdown Effect is in recreating the outrageous action found in classic action movies and taking them one step further. Players can pick weaponry from the silver screen's unparallelled arsenal, including shotguns, frying pans, lightsabers, assault rifles, grenades, katanas, gauss guns and anything in between. No explosion is too loud and no bullet dodge is implausible – The Showdown Effect is all about impaling your friend with nearby broomstick and dropping a “Stick around”-taunt as you jetpack heroically off to the next enemy. Beneath all of this The Showdown Effect is heavily invested in the fundamentals of platforming, providing controls that are responsive and satisfying when it comes to simply running and jumping. Likewise, as a multiplayer game The Showdown Effect will offer all the progressive rewards and unlocks that players have come to love and to cherish. Looks fun, may pick up a 4 pack.
My friend Kuyler bought this for me after knowing very little about the game. It's very fun. I was doing good in my first match with dual katanas. The game seems like it would be a good fit for Steam workshop, as well. I hope that happens one day.
I haven't played it, but the game looks really nice in motion judging by the trailer.
What are your thoughts about the Jagdpanther II?
Oh wow, I didn't realize they offered beta access. Worth a 4-pack?
Oh wow, I didn't realize they offered beta access. Worth a 4-pack?
I think so, it's a fantastic game to play with friends, had a great few hours just dicking around on the Tokyo level, going up and down the elevators firing rockets at eachother [editline]3rd February 2013[/editline]
My friend Kuyler bought this for me after knowing very little about the game. Arrowhead's model seems to be, release a few thousand 70 cent DLC's (Ala magicka), which would be a huge shame for a game like this if they go through with it.
I want a Max Payne DLC, he would fit perfectly fine.
I want a Max Payne DLC, he would fit perfectly fine.
Max Payne would be fantastic, but what I'm looking forward to is Robocop
I thought it looked interesting, I'm just kind of disappointed by a lack of single-player. Indie multiplayer titles like these tend to have problems surviving sadly.
Anyone feel like playing?
This game looks like a sort of 2d version of The Specialists mod for HL1.
Sounds like George Ledoux was voicing the trailer narrator. I hope we get an announcer like Solaris arena then.
Heh awesome, I bought the Deluxe version the other day, currently uploading a video.
I cant seem to start this game up, It does the normal steam game loading pop up then disappears and nothing happens.
Here's the video if anyone interested. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w83qPuj1Id8[/hd]
We should get a lobby going right now
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FPShowdown Steam group to make it easier to organize games and shit, I'll add it to the OP too later.
loving this game already, can't wait to play the other modes/maps/characters (which I believe the devs said would be coming in the next patch or two?)
the game is fuckin awesome
Finally got the game to work, I'm loving this game. Although I absolutely hate the katana. Sure its a powerful weapon but its too powerful, Damn thing can kill you way past its reach. it also means there is no point to use any other melee weapons on the map.
TB just posted up his wtf is of the beta
Hopefully that brings more attention to it.
Aww crap, I'm missing 1€ to buy this because I bought Jade Empire.
What are Mr. Shur Foo's and Sgt. Lance Koboldski's specials? [editline]4th February 2013[/editline] Well I unlocked Koboldski and his special seems useless, Doughnuts which heal you
It's really useful when in showdown and you are running away. Mr shur foo's ability is a flying kick.

Mr Shur Foo's ability allows you kick people, taking half their Hp away (and knocking them away), or flinging you in the direction you choose
I just did a match running around with dual katanas and I won by like 4 kills!
Why would you run with dual katanas? Do you throw one just for fun? :v
I loved Soldat, this looks promising.
