Tony Hawk: Shred will put your Tony Hawk: Ride skateboard controller to use, once again, later this year, letting players skateboard and snowboard while balancing on pricey plastic peripherals. This is what Tony Hawk: Shred will look like. Pro skater Tony Hawk was the first to leak details on the next game in the long-running series. Activision later confirmed that Tony Hawk: Shred exists and that it will double up on the extreme sportsmanship. First screens of Activision and Robomodo's forthcoming game show that, yes, you'll shred on a snowboard. You'll skate in cities and parks. You'll do so in a fashion slightly more cartoonish and cel-shaded. And you'll occasionally wear licensed Volcom clothing while shredding and skating. Will you do something on a surfboard next?
Source [img_thumb]http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/08/treyvolcom.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/08/lynzsnowvolcom.jpg[/img_thumb] How is this zombie franchise still lurching along? Seems like the crippling failure of Tony Hawk Ride should have killed it off, but nope, it's still going, and still using that godawful skateboard for some reason. Not to mention it just plain looks awful. I blame Activision, of course. Maybe after this bombs they'll realize it's time to let the franchise die. That, or find some unthinkable way to make it not terrible, i.e. re-release THPS3.
THPS has been bad since underground 2. :frown: Underground 1 was the best.
They probably have a series of games to go along with the peripheral. I'm sure its quite the investment making a peripheral for a single game.
THPS 2 was the best.
I can't stop looking at that guy in the first screenshot's fingers, they look like twigs wonky character models
Pro Skater 3 was the last good Tony Hawk game.

I haven't heard a single good thing about the skateboard, and I doubt uptake is gonna increase with more games. Though, again, Activision, so maybe there'll be a few dozen more games made for it, idk. EDIT: oh wow, I just noticed, look in the upper left of the first pic. They look like the stadium people in a 90's football game, that's just sad.
Honestly, if they kept going with the formula of the same, completely unrealistic skating, and just kept making more and more new levels for it, it'd probably be more successful than it is now. It's just been retarded gimmick after retarded gimmick for the THPS series, and now it is time to lay it to rest.
I can't stop looking at that guy in the first screenshot's fingers, they look like twigs wonky character models
Even though his jeans are going through his torso?
I remember renting the first THPS from blockbuster when I was really young, I instantly fell in love with it, I then almost bought every installment of the franchise up until THPS Underground 2. I really wish they'd stop crapping all over this game.
the girl looks like a dude.
Yay again no PC version.
the girl looks like a dude.
Not to mention as bored as humanly possible. I mean, look at that face/those eyes, they're just dead.
THPS through THUG were good games, but after that it really went downhill.
THPS 2 was the best.
The Truth.
THPS 2 was the best.
They should release that game on XBLA and PSN. +PC
Now days a lot of games use cell shading ? Why ?
The problem with the Tony Hawk series is that it hasn't evolved. As gaming technology evolves so does the gameplay. Tony Hawk is stuck with the same gameplay that we had ten years ago with the first game. Skate is now the staple skateboarding game. The first Underground game is still probably the best skating game I've ever played (this is nostalgia talking of course).
Now days a lot of games use cell shading ? Why ?
Because it can look really good when done well. Every game that tries it thinks it's gonna do it well, and we get crap like this. Though, it seems like cell shading ran it's course mostly in the previous generation, and early in this one. Haven't seen a TON of games with it lately.
THPS has been bad since underground 2. :frown: Underground 1 was the best.
MY OWN CLONE he's right, though. Underground 2 wasn't fun. Cel-shaded environments often look like ass.
