I wouldn't be unhappy if I downloaded a demo and got the full game. If that's what you're implying.
Besides, Portal: First Slice uses content from the full Portal, so it'll be downloading resources from the full version to use in the demo. Then, if you buy the full game, you don't need to re-download it.

Why the heck did valve just make me download a thing
just to redirect me to buy it what the heck
because it downloads the content for the full game for the demo.
It's called pre loading.
