The Triple Threat FPS Release Thread: Black Ops, Reach, Medal of Honor
56 replies, posted
There are three big FPS games coming out this fall - Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach, and Medal of Honor. Discuss them to your hearts content.
Are you excited for them? Are you planning on getting them? What do you like most about them?
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Treyarch was pretty good with World at War - the addition of the Co-Op gamemode Nazi Zombies was an EXCELLENT idea. I still play it with my friends to this day. They added a lot of features, even though the engine was just a modified Call of Duty 4. They also seem to be pretty in touch with the community.
I'm excited for Black Ops, and I will probably be purchasing it. The fact that Zombies is returning (Terrorist zombies? Russian zombies? Who knows?!) is awesome. Plus all of my friends will be playing it, and I don't want to be left out.
Hopefully Treyarch won't let us down with singleplayer - MW2's really sucked for me. The multiplayer is important too, but singleplayer really needs to be improved. Forgive my random rambling on...
Also, Helicopters. My secret love.

Halo: Reach
Halo: Reach is about the Spartans of Reach - the fortress world that housed the Pillar Of Autumn of Halo: Combat Evolved. Reach obviously gets blown up by the Covenant or something, which is painfully evident if you've played the first game.
Assassinations look interesting, I just don't like the idea of going up behind someone, pressing a button and automatically getting a kill.
All the weapons are getting new looks, and the graphics and details are getting major updates. What I'm most excited about is Forge World. Forge World is a totally updated version of forge - along with a HUGE expansive map.

Medal of Honor
I'm not really excited for it. I played the beta and it wasn't very good to be honest. It just seems like another run of the mill shooter. I'm disappointed by that.
I agree with every thing but medal of honor.
Call of Duty Black Ops: Not too sure about it gotta see later on.
Halo Reach:I have no Xbox 360 but looks good.
Medal of Honor: Not excited.
Really excited for Reach.
Willing to give Black Ops a chance.
Medal of Honor was really boring and generic.
Three consolized fps's, WOW!
Reach: Really excited bungie are good devs and they know what they're doing with the halo series
Black ops: I'm a little bit nervous after MW2 but still treyarch know what they're doing and are scrapping realism for fun which is a good thing for call of duty
Medal of honor: Multiplayer beta sold it horribly short singleplayer will have to impress, it will have to blow my mind to make me consider medal of honor.
holy shit its like theres a thread for every one of these games but this thread combines them all into one!
ill probably buy all of them except medal of honor, looks pretty lame
also you can play as a terrorist and that offends me :(
Black Ops looks fun, only the SP of MoH looks good, I might get Reach... even though I don't have Live. :v:
How can you not be excited for MoH after seeing the the singleplayer...

Thats been in since the first game (not sure about in MP, but in Single player if you melee and NPC in the back you get an instant kill)
i'd get all of them

it does that in multiplayer too
All 3 don't interest me.

Right, and they were called Assassinations in the Old games as well right?

yes
I'll probably borrow MoH and Black Ops from a friend (Normally I'd just rent them, but the only rental place in town closed down -_-)

I Pre-ordered Reach
CoD: Black Ops: MW2 isn't a bad game. Yes, it was disappointing and not worth $60, but it's not a bad game. I'm sure Treyarch knows what they're doing. At the very least I'll rent it.
Halo: Reach: I never owned a Halo game before, but it looks very promising. Rent or buy.
MoH: I know a lot of people were disappointed by the multiplayer, but goddamn the singleplayer looks good. Way better than the one man army CoD stuff. Gonna buy it when I have the money.
I mean look at it:

Tier 1 tier 1 tier 1
Halo: Reach: It looks somewhat good, might buy it for splitscreen and multiplayer.
MoH: I really didn't like the multiplayer, but the singleplayer looks impressive.
CoD: Black Ops: I felt somewhat "ripped off" after this game came out one year after MW2, but I'm sure that it will be worth my $60.
the medal of honor beta was disappointing. halo looks interesting, but i know online fun would be spoiled by the 13 year old horde, so i will pass.
as for COD, i will wait and see.
Black Ops im getting
No Xbox so no Halo
I'm only interested in the single player for Medal of Honour. Couldn't care less about MP
Black Ops:
Same old shit I've seen in MW2. Will probably get boring after a month. Not something I will buy because a) I'm boycotting Activision and b) It won't be very good.
Halo: Reach:
I'm no Halo fan but Reach looks really fun. Forge World is a fantastic concept and gameplay look very refined.
Too bad I don't own a 360, because if I did I would get this game.
Medal of Honor: EA's attempt to get a slice of the money cake CoD is eating. Played the beta and it blew (I know it's the beta, but it won't change that drastically).
Singeplayer looks shit.
Black Ops
Somewhat interested myself, but only really for the zombies. However, I do get the sense that Treyarch is embracing the utterly ridiculous nature of the franchise what with ballistic knives and detonating RC cars, so it could actually be a bit of fun as a split-screen deathmatch sort of game.
Halo Reach
I recently discovered that Halo is a lot of fun, so this is definitely going on my "to buy some day in the distant future" list.
Medal of Honor
lolno
Halo: Reach
It looks pretty good. The forge looks amazing, almost as good as Far Cry editor.
Black Ops:
I will probably buy this. Just because.
MoH:
When I saw it a E3, It looked amazing. I went out and changed my reserve from APB to it. Well, the beta was actually terrible. I really want APB now. Looks a million times better.
I wanna see how every one would react if they made a single player only CoD game. A good one too.
everyone's just angry that MoH is going to fix all the problems in MW2 and Bad Company 2 and be a combined better than both
EDIT: I guess some people can't see blatant sarcasm.
I'll buy Reach first and play it until my hearts content, save Black Ops for Christmas or something, and buy Medal of Honor when it's around $20 bucks.
Halo Reach:
I'm counting the days till release.
CoD:BO
Looks interesting, though Activision are DICKS and I refuse to give any money to them.
Medal of Duty:
An obvious CoD clone from the beta, the single player doesn't really interest me. It looks like a propaganda film.
No one plays games for singleplayer any more
It's so sad :frown:
Black Ops: Cancer, if you buy it you're contributing to Kotick's future dystopic Orwellian rule
Medal of Honor: Singleplayer will be great, multiplayer won't. I don't play MP anyway, so it doesn't matter.
Halo Reach: Fuck yes, the Halo game we've been waiting for.
Halo Reach looks great, don't care for MoH, and I'm not even going to think about purchasing Black Ops.
