They're kicking things off by offering the first Torchlight for free. If you buy it now (for free) it stays on your account forever, so go grab that.
As with Steam's sales, almost everything is on sale at around 50% off every day, but they'll be offering bigger bundles of games at heavier discounts that will change each day. Day one is Alan Wake and Dungeons & Dragons. One important thing to note is that, unlike Steam, GOG doesn't do extra copies of games. However, also unlike Steam, if you own one or more of the games in a bundle, GOG automatically subtracts the costs of those games from the total bundle price. Yay GOG.
For those unacquainted with GOG, their hook is that everything is TOTALLY DRM free. You don't need to have ANY other program running, you can install and run the game on as many machines as you'd like, etc. Plus they offer a bunch of extras with every game, like soundtracks, wallpapers, behind-the-scenes stuff, etc. In other words, they're the best digital download service by far.
Free copy of Torchlight? Yoink!
Torchlight 1 for free? I might buy Torchlight 2 in the Steam Summer sale if I like what I play.
Hah this year I have money for the summer sale! Thanks for reminding me the steam one is coming up soon.
My wallet was not ready.
Bumping because it's the longest day of the summer and they've got a TON of daily deals today.
I forgot, do you get the option for Steam keys when you buy from GoG?
No. Why would you want them when GOG is better anyways? :v:
No. Why would you want them when GOG is better anyways? :v:
Because some people would prefer to have everything in a singular library?
And better is subjective.

Considering Steam is effectivly a form of DRM, GoG wont provide any keys for Steam as they're all about the no DRM.
I wish they'd complete some of the series on their website. Right now Myst, Riven, and Myst V are there, but Myst III and IV are not. Same with Journeyman 2 and 3, but not 1.
Still an awesome sale and I'm definately going to buy at least half a dozen games.
Picked up the Ultima collection for less than $10
That's Ultima I, Ultima II, Ultima III, Ultima IV, Ultima V, Ultima VI, Ultima VII, Ultima VIII Ultima IX, Ultima Underworld and Ultima Underworld II, so every single Ultima game aside from Ultima Online and Ultima Worlds. Normally these'd cost an extra $27 all together on GOG.
Snatched the Fair and Square pack. been meaning to play Thief and Deus Ex, daikatana looks cool too and idk what's up with that Anachronax game but apparently it's really good
Is the GOG version of Evil Genius better than the Steam release?

Anachronox is the best.
fuuuck, man. This is TOO MANY sales. The Sierra pack is really tempting me. At least the QFG collection... I already have King's Quest 1-6 on Steam.
Anachronox is the best.
Personally I really can't stand Anachronox. The characters are very interesting and the setting is powerful, but the game runs you around so much! I got so bored of being run to a point, run to another point, up until [sp]I teamed up with the old guy to beat the crap out of things in the mines.[/sp] I thought things would really pick up after that, but... no. More running around. Disappointing for me, I think I'll just watch the cutscenes on Youtube. That's pretty much the game experience for me right there.
At least I got M&M 1-6 and the entire Ultima series to look forward to for my RPG gaming endeavors. This is a great sale!
It sucks you don't get Might and Magic VII in the bundle because if you enjoyed VI (which is probably the best in the series) you'll enjoy VII. VIII took a step in the wrong direction though.
Have any of you played Strike Suit Zero? It looks pretty fun.
I'm also going to buy System Shock 2 because that game is awesome.
Everyone should buy Signal Ops.
Oh, important note: apparently any Square-Enix, Interplay, Bohemia Interactive, and Capcom sales are ending after the first week. Dunno why. All other sales last through to July 5th.
Just grabbed all the Descent and Freespace games even though they weren't in a bundle. I suspect the bundles we see today will be repeated for the next few days. GOG did the same thing with the winter sale, I think.
if anyone here - through some sheer calamity of happenstance - has not yet played SMAC, now would be a good time to rectify this
Got Unreal Tournament off of GoG. Very fast paced, very chaotic, I wish I had this when I was a kid! Would be perfect for LAN parties!

Ah, that was my first mouse-controlled FPS. I even made a few (fairly shitty) maps for it. I wonder if those are still around...
Just got the Raziel & Kain series. Soul Reaver 2 creeped me the fuck out as a kid when I got to play it.
This thread reminds me, we should do a whole thread dedicated to sales and people asking if that or that game is worth getting. Should I make an OP right now ?

There we go, that'll be easier to centralize all good discounts.

Thanks for mentioning that, just bought UT2004.

You know you can add shortcuts to Steam, right?
I bought Alan Wakes games, I wonder how good they are.

Alan Wake is a good game with a great atmosphere, American Nightmare a XBLA title that kind of lacks the charm of the first episode. Both are still rather good though.
Oh boy Daikatana is on sale!

I'm currently playing it. I don't think I'm being made a bitch in any way.
Also, missed opportunity in not including those infamous posters.
