• How does facepunch feel about APB?

I need a second opinion. I was at another online community today and I saw users bashing APB. They were saying that APB was just a glorified character creator. I decided to ask you guys what you thought about it since this is an online community mainly focused towards a PC gaming audience. What did you guys think of the game?
I don't like it, but everyone has their own opinions.
I liked it, lots, but it isn't worth it for a P2P game.
I didn't like it much. The character creation was the only fun bit for me.
I feel that the OP should have noticed there is an entire thread for APB and this did not need it's own thread.
I feel that the OP should have noticed there is an entire thread for APB and this did not need it's own thread.
Ofcourse, so smart to ask "is this game any good?" in the megathread of said game, you totally wont get any biased opinions right? :downs:
Even though half the people who post in the megathread think the game is shit? v:v:v Hell it's my thread and even I think it's shit as it is right now. I suggest waiting a bit before buying it because RTW is likely going to undergo liquidation which would mean APB shutting down.

It seemed that in the megathread, users were posting about how different mechanics in the game work, whom in the game was hacking, how much the game cost, and vice versa. The thread then turned into a discussion about who was going to take over APB after it was gone. I just want a general opinion of what people thought about the game overall. I don't think there is anything wrong with your thread. I just wanted to ask a specific question.
Well, wait a few months is my opinion. We don't know where RTW is going yet and we certainly don't know the future of APB (and it's not very easy to get into right now anyway.)
I was going to get it, but everyone that played said it was complete shit, and every video I have seen supported this. Looks like it would get boring within a week.
I played in the beta, seemed like a poorly made GTA ripoff that forgot it was online.
I absolutely loved it when it was released but now, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you want to buy it I would wait until they have sorted everything out.
It's freaking awesome!
I personally stopped playing in till they actually get their shit together and fix most of the game and add content. You're not really missing much by not playing to be honest. It was fun for a while, but once you unlock and max out all contacts and nearly all organizations it gets old quick. It is too repetitive.
The character creation is awesome but the game itself is monotonous and incredibly frustrating. Please, please, don't waste your money.
I played it for 2 weeks, It started to get old very quickly and by the last few days I had enough, someone might enjy it past the charector creation tools and car tools, but I certainly dont enjoy fighting people I cant kill.
Problem is that during the beta they refused to listen to bug reports and suggestions and instead denied any flaws with the game and claimed it was absolutely perfect.
All I can say is that I want my $50 back.
I haven't played it but i see it being another standard MMO, and i'm already too invested in others to give a crap
I liked it. I wish they'd release the server software.
I haven't played it but i see it being another standard MMO, and i'm already too invested in others to give a crap
Talk about a man that doesn't do his homework properly. I thought that APB was really fun until like 50 hours in, there is not enough high-level content to keep you in. Also it had serious balance issues. Actually the only thing that RTW failed at is PR, people think that the game is the same as it was in the Beta (bug, bugs everywhere) since they did care about talking to community about what they're doing. [editline]02:08PM[/editline] Btw, one of the few games that did driving right without removing the fun from it.
It's fun to make characters, cars and all that stuff. But that's everything, what's fun in APB..
Best 2 hours of my life. The last hour was the worst.
It's boring as fuck.
Meanwhile...somewhere in Nevada.
I played during beta and PTW, I loved this game but since it's gone into administration, I can see it dying very quickly
I was always worried when playing the Beta that they had let too many people in. People who didn't test and criticise understanding that this was not the finished game. It seems, sadly, I was right. many people have reviewed and listened to comments about the beta and not the actual game. As of right now the game is certainatly decent. the character creator and vehicle editor are as they were in the Beta, fantastic, except now with the mirror feature which has completed the editors in my opinion. combat is no longer as laggy as it used to be in the beta and I can actually play for as long as I want before rage quitting. however there are a few balance issuses. But they actually all arise from the 'undertaker' OCA weapon. What I'm finding is that each weapon they have is designed to counter another weapon and I guess people don't change weapon often and feel the enemies weapons are overpowered. To be fair unless you have a field supplier it is quite tedious to change weapon. mission tasks to get tiresome but anything does if you do it too much. Driving is good, feels solid. top speed for all cars could be increased though as it seems the fastest you can go is about 45mph-ish. They should release a new trial inviting beta testers back to see how the game has improved.
Played beta, was mediocre. Got boring and repetitive quickly. I've heard it been called a glorified character creator. That's spot on, in my opinion.
