Has anyone got this game? Is anyone planning to buy this?
Looks like a great strategy game. You assume the role of Napoleon Bonaparte, or one of his major rivals and obviously this is set in the 1800's with use of muskets. Looks like alot of fun.
I'm thinking about getting this game, it has gotten positive reviews.
Anyone have any thoughts on this game?
I didn't really like Empire, so I've been playing Medieval 2, Rome and Shogun instead. Since Napoleon is basically a reskin and tuneup of Empire, I haven't bought it.
Fuckin LOVED this game, I adored being able to use line infantry and cavalry and such, and I actually sat there for a good long while when I could have finished a battle just so I could watch the artillery smash into a row of cowering soldiers as they ducked behind a wall because I thought the look and sound of the cannnons was so fucking cool.
Don't forget you can download a demo off of Steam : http://store.steampowered.com/app/34030/
Definitely get it, it's really , really good.
Friggin' great game, plenty of faction to play as, good selection of units, nice amount of special historical units that make an appearance, and different campaigns and historical battles to play. If anyone get's it, the dlc units are pretty good too, Coldstream Guard are awesome.
Thanks for the replies.
Yeah it seems pretty awesome. I just don't wanna repeat the same mistake I did with BC2. I expected to be glued to the computer due to that game, instead it was a little disapointing.
Not saying there will be. I do have a soft spot for strategy games and I've always wanted to play a game in the musket era of warfare, so it seems all the sweeter.
I just wanted to find out if there were any faults with Napoleon that I wasn't aware of. I might get it in a few days time =)
BTW - I was planning on getting Rome when it first came out 6 or so years ago, someone told me you could make an unlimited amount of soldiers. Is this true? And if it is, is it the same for Napoleon?
I'd go with medieval and rome instead. I've tried all of them and those are my favorites.
I just feel that the formations and shit doesn't matter as much when almost every soldier has a musket.

Formations are really important in this game though, thats why I love it, if you're not keeping tabs on all your troops then the ones you're not paying attention to will get decimated. Try the demo and you'll see.
I liked Rome, and thought the gunpowder shit would take away a part of the game I liked, but now I can't go back to the old games because I love the empire and napoleon games too much.
I prefer Rome and Medieval, but Napoleon is a hell of a lot better than Empire. For one, Empire is laggy as shit - especially on the campaign map.
Why must God of computers torture me so?
I can't run Napoleon or Empire. :(
Well, Empire starts but then the screen flickers like crazy when it gets to the legal stuff.
I can hear the menu music and my mouse moving over the buttons.
But, I should be getting a new PC by the end of the year.
Does your system meet the requirments? Though as some people mentioned in this thread, Empire has problems. I don't own it, but I've read so many negative comments due to its bugs.
I'll be playing the demo of Napoleon tomorrow, can't wait! If it's as amazing as it's made out to be, I'll be making my way down to the store ASAP!
P.S- thanks for the link to the demo there spawndex
I really wish I would've waited for Napoleon instead of getting Empire. Such a letdown.
Agh. I hate Napoleon: Total War. For some reason it wasn't as cool to me as it is for others.

Yeah, I meet the minimum reqs for Empire.
Dl'ed the demo yesterday, played it today and just ordered it, I love how you can surround groups of enemies and watch them get raped, amazing game
Didn't we just have a thread about this a week ago? I drowned in the mass of other threads but still?

Every countries armies are just basically the same and crap like that.

Yeah, and CA "made up" for that by offering these paid DLC units. I don't know how Nap's OOBs are.
I prefer all the prequels to Napoleon & Empire. I bought Empire and it was such a waste of money, complete shite. I don't know about Napoleon although it's kind of ripoff to release then the "same" game with added features and bug fixes.
