Hey everyone, in light of how much everyone adored Star Trek: The Game as another fine example of how extremely well Trek gaming is performing these days ([sp]psst, that was sarcasm[/sp]), I thought that this great mod was worth a plugging. The RPG-X mod allows for a multiplayer Star Trek roleplaying experience which cannot be found in any other game. Based off the first Elite Force title, the quake 3 engine has been modified further (and continues to be so today), to allow for things not possible with the base games - such as emotes and much larger maps. This mod has amassed quite the collection of maps and models over the last 6+ years, and can also use resources available for the base game over the last 13 years. Incredibly, there's still an active online presence. Especially at the group detailed below. The Last Outpost runs a number of weekly series - so you're basically throwing yourself in to somebody's version of the serial show every 'episode.' Worth checking out if it's your kind of thing. Make up your own stories with friends or recreate the classics. I have the same name at TLO, so if you need any help, just let me know - there, if not here. Thank you for lending me your eyeballs.
What is RPG-X? RPG-X is your story, your characters, your ship, your plot, your world of Star Trek placed in an easy to download, ALWAYS free program. RPG-X not only allows you to take control of your own ship, it allows you to take control of your own crew as you lead them on a journey bounded only by your imagination Only with The Last Outpost can you experience a new realm of Role play. What is The Last Outpost? The Last Outpost is a group that nurtures your ideas, and builds them up into an enjoyable, memorable role playing experience. Here, as a member of a tight-knit community, you will not only learn how to master RPG-XCE, you will discover how to effectively bring your story to life, lead others and create your own Star Trek Universe. I've been in gaming clans before. What makes The Last Outpost different? For one, The Last Outpost is not a gaming clan. We have no arbitrary rank system based on time spent in the group, so once you're in, your voice is as valuable to us as anyone else's. Secondly, since we are not a gaming clan, we have absolutely no problem with you being a member in any other clan, fleet, guild etc. TLO was created a a community designed around having fun without the unnecessary drama that surrounds most gaming clans. Wait, what is rpgxCE? It is a free, legal, and extremely easy-to-learn program that will allow you to bring your story to life. With an infinite number of addons, you can create your ultimate universe. What was once a mod to the classic Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force is now standalone and downloadable by anyone. . This package will allow you to connect to our servers, participate in our RPs and, perhaps, lead one yourself. Do I actually get my own crew, or are they just NPCs like in most games? You get your own crew, played by living breathing people who you can interact with in real time. No static conversations like with NPCs, instead you can explore the dynamic history of each of your crew mates without ever running out of things to talk about like you would in Mass Edfect or STO. This sounds great! How can I join? It is really simple. Go to http://www.last-outpost.net and click on Forums. Then Click to Join. Register to the forums, and then fill out an application form. Then that's it; you will be welcomed as a full member of the TLO community It's that simple. Join today, for a lifetime of fun!
Someone is working with the engine for Rift. That would be quite the thing.. https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1312
Woah, this looks pretty great. This is what Star Trek games should always have been about - exploration. Going to write my application, can't wait.
I'm thinking about trying this out, as I've always wanted to roleplay Star Trek stuff (and did so on Jedi Academy) So, could I just drop in after downloading and find some server to simply play in or are applications and joining the community required? I'd just want to try it out first
Elite Force was great back in the day, USS Posideon-A was a great map for RP [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] I stopped playing after Federation Reborn died though, after that I only really saw German roleplay servers still being active.
TLO's servers are public 24/7 - no app required Ray :) The same can be said for most active servers, as far as I know. ...and of course you can local play to explore the maps and spam as many starship buttons as possible until you find out what they all do :v:
Additionally, with a few menu hops, you can play the entire Elite Force Multiplayer game.
Additionally, with a few menu hops, you can play the entire Elite Force Multiplayer game.
Anybody still running an active server with Dangercity in the rotation?
Oh man I remember this. I should really, really play it again, it's been so long since I last picked this up but I remember it was a blast.
I'm just wondering, what's the extent of what you can do in this? Does the ship actually travel to different planets or is it all pretend?
Just played alone for a little. Exploring the ships alone is pretty fun, this brings back memories. But I can't seem to connect to the master server - did I miss something or is it a common problem? Can't find a single server because it tells me it can't connect to any of the MSs. When I joined one of the TLO servers via favorites, it worked, but it was empty, while the other one didn't let me connect at all.

Alright, sounds p. fun are there any servers though? I can't seem to find any by searching and the one that i can get on is empty

Set it to Internet4 and they should be around...
Right, so now there are servers but they're all deathmatch and whatnot
Are you sure it's in RPG-X. Will be obvious from the splash screen, but the server list should look something like this: (You're right, popular in Germany) If you're going straight in to holomatch (DM), hit the mods tab on the menu and select RPG-X. Though if you used RPGXCE, the shortcuts should work fine.
how do you hold coffee and get guns and shit
Different classes start with different equipment.
You can type /class admin in to the console to get all the items at once. Local only.
Had a fun time with Ray, then the game shit itself. wish there were more people
Yeah it was pretty cool Are there specific times when more people play except for events? Also, how do people properly roleplay? Is there a local chat or something?
There can be regularly around 10-15 players per scheduled games on the weekends. It's fairly quiet on weekdays. But that's the advantage of being part of the one real surviving group. A lot of active members who can arrange to play throughout the week =) There are exceptions. Depending on who's looking, you can get 20 players in. All about timing, really. But the weekly games work best. Still, could be worse considering the age of the game. VOIP isn't built in. There is a global and local text chat - with two broadcast systems for either admin use, or to set a scene.. play an NPC... and so on. TLO also hosts a teamspeak server - so can be used for games when suitable.
Well I would definitely love to check this out when there's some roleplay going on, all we did was fuck around a bit and play hide and seek while trying everything out. Thanks for posting this Grizz!
Thanks for taking an interest! :v:
then we learned how to get guns and it all fell apart
I was wondering when you were going to make this Grizz
then we learned how to get guns and it all fell apart
That reminded me of when these guys found us.. Best endorsement:
Hey guys, just jumping in here to thank everyone who joined us that night to make this Star Trek the best trek. Also massive props to the server admins* for putting up with our bullshit.
As an example of how serious you can be with regular stuff, just click here. Thankfully it's not a real thing, so HBO isn't all over my ass. Good tool for Star Trek machinima as well, I should add... if anybody is in to that.
How many maps are there? Just Poseidon and that one with the broken other ship? I can only find those when creating a server
How many maps are there? Just Poseidon and that one with the broken other ship? Elite Force Files has most of the ones your lookin' for.
Is this just basically Star Trek roleplaying? I've always wanted to be the guy who sits at the console and presses the correct warp factor button according to what Kirk yells out! Kirk: Warp Factor Three! Me: Yes, Captain. I can feel the excitement already!
