I just got a new 2tb harddrive, can i just copy and paste my steam folder to it and it should all work fine?
SourceSDK, Games, Everything?
Do i need to do a fresh install then copy the game content over?
you can copy it if you like
just install steam on the new drive and move steamapps to the new steam folder
There's an article on what to do here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
Copy will take too long, use CUT instead of Copy.
CUT is only faster if you're moving files to a new location on the same drive. Copy is the safer option between drives.
Problem solved guys.
Thanks for all your help.
I reinstalled steam and just copied the Steamapps directory over.

Oh, okay, I thought it was faster on any drive get cut to any other drive.
My mistake.
Nice username OP.
I'm surprised they say to do all of that stuff. You can actually copy and paste the whole damn steam folder anywhere you want and it'll work fine.
Delete everything except for steam.exe and the steamapps folder. Copy it into the new desired location. When you run steam.exe, it will redownload and install itself the correct way.
