As any Half Life fan knows, Ep.3 will not be the end of the series, and there will most likely be a 3rd game. But wont it be getting a little dull? So what gameplay feature or plot devices would you like to see?
As for myself I want a way to knock back enemies who are to close without switching to my crowbar. Like, if a weapon has no secondary attack, pressing your alternate fire key will make Gordon reach out and shove what's in his way back, putting human like enemies in a very vunerable stance for a second, knocking headcrabs on their backs for two seconds, and ditto with antlions. It should only do maybe 5 damage for balance purposes.
There is a Valve Games and Mods section.
I'm sure EP3 is going to be the last one. I'll be like 35 if Half Life 3 ever does come out.

So are you thinking of Half Life: Left For Dead 3?

this
i'd like to see it not being boring as fuck, i'd like to see interesting characters and an interesting story. unfortunately, thats not gonna happen.
Portal 2, then HL3. Don't you remember at the valve conference, they said they were not doing a EP3, but a whole new HL series?
Destructible environment and water physics, plus the ability to deform the environment with the physics or gravity gun... but of course it would take quite a lot of years until Valve can develop their engine so greatly, or rather a completely new engine.

Valve could probably do a lot more with the engine than they already do, however, Valve is dedicated to giving great games to the people with not so great computers. So their engine isn't super advanced.
You do know the title should be Half Life 2: Episode 3 right?

Sorry, I meant to should be, as in the thread title, spelling error.
There won't be a Half-Life 3. At least there shouldn't be. I'm not saying I don't want one, but it would be pretty silly. The episodes were the solution to making a third one. Instead of making one big huge sequel and taking 7 years like Half-Life 2 did, they wanted to do shorter content to act as a sequel, hence the episodes. Although now it seems they fucked it up and are going to take 7 years anyways.
I would like to see a new engine, and I would like it to be like Half Life 2 and not the Episodes. Frankly, I thought the episodes were horrible.

Who said Episode 3 wouldn't end the series? Look at the plot; the Combine have NO way of getting back to Earth, and the only issue remaining is the Borealis and what the remaining Combine forces might do with it. Gordon deals with this in Episode 3. A third installment wouldn't make any sense.
I love the universe, though, so perhaps there could be some spin-offs; the story of a slave vortigaunt escaping the clutches of his Xen overlords, stuff like that.

Wow, you honestly played them going "God this game sucks asshole I can't believe I'm playing it"?

He probably hasn't even played them, and just wants to stand out from the group.

No, he meant Half Life 3, aka the new saga that will come out after Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Valve has confirmed that they have no interest in ending the series after Episode 3. Most likely a new story arc will occur involving the portals.
I was wonder the understanding that episodes 1-3 are "half-life 3"

Is it really that hard to have someone disagree with you? I never thought the Episodes were anything special. Good games, but nothing special.
And yes, I have played them.
I love how all of the people that are calling Half life crap are on a forum that was originally just to discuss a mod of the game.
I thought the episodes were going to be the equivalent of a Half Life 3?
Anyway, in a new version of the game, I'm guessing it would be made on a new or at least heavily updated version of Source. I could see Half Life 3 being a good showcase candidate for some new Valve tech.
But I don't believe that Half Life 3 would be ready any time shortly, if ever. I think that Valve are working on other titles and exploring new territories right now, what with their Left 4 Dead franchise, Portal, the recent news about wanting to own the DotA name and even there work with the TF2 shorts.
i want to see fucking full blown free roam in an exciting NON METRO environment and some realistic as FUCK cars to do HECTIC SKIDS in
After Half Life 2 Episode 3 they will (i guess) go on with the movie.
Where we got into this direction was after Half-Life 1 had shipped. There was a whole bunch of meetings with people from Hollywood. Directors down there wanted to make a Half-Life movie and stuff, so they’d bring in a writer or some talent agency would bring in writers, and they would pitch us on their story. And their stories were just so bad. I mean, brutally, the worst. Not understanding what made the game a good game, or what made the property an interesting thing for people to be a fan of."
This was out yesterday so i do think Gabe is interested into making a movie, Maybe the movie will be a teaser.
Nuff said: Valve wants to make there own movie and so i guess they will not work on HL3 but the movie
