post your hardest video game level.
For me it was trying to deactivate the brain scorcher in stalker Soc. deactivating it wasn't the hard part, getting there was. :smithicide:
Cortana in Halo 3. :ohdear:
The Library in original Halo, on Legendary.
So much of my life wasted on beating it :frown:
That FUCKING escort mission in MGS3.
Seriously, you need to keep moving while pumping FUCKING dead raccoons down a disabled chicks fucking throat.
[editline]01:20AM[/editline]
The stealth mission in RF:G Where you need to destroy the planes without alerting anybody.
Your arsenal of "Sledgehammer, rocket launcher, loud-as-fuck particle disassembly unit and explosive suitcase" is not going to cut it in the stealth section.
The final boss battle in Beyond Good & Evil.
[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpomFfd3vNg[/media]
Reversing controls, pinpoint timing and twitch reflexes needed, all that kind of mind-bending shit that just drives you insane.
Halo? Seriously? How was ANYTHING in that game even remotely difficult? Fucking kiddy bullshit is what halo was... How anyone could have trouble beating any part of that game is a complete mystery to me.
EVERYTHING in freedom force

Have you tried The Library on insane?
Go on, try it. I'll wait.
You back? Good. Now tell me that was easy.
The Perfect Run in SMG2
The Thorian in Mass Effect. It would've been fine if the clones didn't fucking spam singularity.
[editline]01:23AM[/editline]
The Sniper Wolf battle in MGS. If you run out of Nikitas you are fucked.

It's not a stealth segment at all, hence Alec's "Stealth's not really my style". Just run in and plant the bombs, the gunships cover you from most gunfire.
Attempting a full stealth run in Alpha Protocol even on easy is Ultra Hard Satan's Cock mode.

They fly away really goddamn fast.
the fucking on-rails motorbike level in MGS4 on big boss difficulty, one time I did it but i fucked up my save game later and the only other save I had was just before this level so i had to do it again, that time my friend was watching, and he went to turn off the controller for player 2 but accidentally turned off the console so I had to do it a THIRD time,
finally did it though and got the big boss emblem :smug:

You can take any game with a whole heap of enemies and just turn up the difficulty until it's extremely difficult... Shit, even Serious Sam can be an ultra-challenge on the hardest setting but you're not going to find anyone stuffing it in here as having one of the 'Hardest video game Levels'... Because it's not. The same goes for that shitty Halo mission. You're just walking around a bland level with endless hordes of enemies coming at you, and the only thing that makes it any challenging is if the difficulty is way up, in which case it's only challenging because there's overwhelming amounts of enemies doing way more damage than normal.
There's no actual challenge to it, it's not 'hard' in the right sense. A proper 'Hardest video game level' is one that's really fucking hard no matter what you do. If I can drop the difficulty to 'Easy' and suddenly make a level a cakewalk, then it does not deserve to be in this thread.

Yeah, true.
Doesn't change the fact that it made me want to cut off my balls, though.
Doppelgänger at the candy land in Rayman
de_dust2
The fight with Metal Gear: REX at the end of MGS. There is no viable way to dodge the goddamn missiles.
[editline]01:32AM[/editline]
Fawful Express in Bowser's Inside Story.
It's just So. Fucking. Stupid.
[editline]01:37AM[/editline]
And lets not forget the boss fight with Sam in Red Dead Revolver.
I have yet to complete it to this day. Carnival Life was fucking unbearable too.
MGS2 where your fighting the RAY's, It took me a damn year to finish it (long hiatus in the middle were i lost interest) But the fight is impossible, it really is, that's why it finishes it for you but if you did not know that then it just seemed like a lost cause.

Fighting Mantis n MGS 1... Without using the 2nd port controller.

I can't stress enough how soul-destroying having to defeat Mantis this way is. I was six. I didn't know. :saddowns:
The citadel in Hl2

first time i used my 2nd controller without knowing and was like DAMN that was easy (always had 2 controllers plugged in and it was tangled i just grabbed a controller). A few months later i tried to beat it again (it was an amazing game!) Damn i nearly broken my controller on how hard it was to beat this guy.
And who else lost the cd case to the game and found out you needed to find a codex number on the back of the case later on in the game? Didn't have a computer back then, They were way to expensive.
For me it is definitely the bike level in Battletoads.
That FUCKING level in Call of Duty: World at War where the japanese jump out of the holes in the ground, you get an LMG and a flamethrower. I attempted to beat that level MANY times and failed.
Also,

[b] WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DO I GO [/b]
I have MGS, never got far in it... I could never find that infamous code anywhere.
On the subject of Halo difficulty: It's not really difficult, all that 'difficulty' does is made is so that enemies can take an additional 6000 shots before dying.
I Wanna' Be the Guy. The whole game. :smug:
In all honesty, though, it's really hard for me to say. Anything I can think of has already been said. I'll actually have to think about this one in-depth.
Oh no wonder I couldn't find that bloody Codec, it seems to only be on one version of the case.
I had this bastard:

And was looking for patterns in the red on the back. No pictures on the back. Just a pattern.
Oh nevermind I see it now, the screenshot is just fucking tiny on that version.
The escort mission near the end of Metro 2033.

I had the same case as you but still have the codec on the back?
