so i have the chance to nab it for $2.50, i was wondering if it was worth downloading, it got a very high metascore but Im just asking for personal opinions.

Get the whole package, it's worth it. Especially with mods like Blitzkrieg.
I couldn't really get into the game, but the Blitzkrieg mod made it much better. Yep, it's worth it 100%.
I buyed it too, just to shorten the time till MOW:AS.

The game is simply awesome, especially playing against the AI with friends.
Buy it right now, it's a bloody brilliant game.
I used to play it all the time, but it's kinda unbalanced and the last expansion completely messed the game up. I still love using the worldbuilder to make maps and NIS scenes (small films) and I guess it's still quite a good game.
