I noticed this game popped up at PAX this year and I had to post about it.
I doubt anyone remembers or let alone heard of Grand Theftendo back in 2004/2005. It was a homebrew ROM for the NES that remade the entire first city and the missions, weapons, etc from GTA III in 8bit form which is pretty nuts given the NES's technical limitations.

You'll notice a lot of similarities in the look of both games. Anyhow it never came out and faded and I totally forgot about it until this new game popped up, Retro City Rampage. I guess he gave up on making a true NES game remake of GTA 3 and instead shoved as many old school games into a GTA 1/2 if it was 8 bit style world with mini games and sections that make references or straight up clone them. From what I've seen so far a retro gamer will cream their pants. I've seen references and game play elements from Bionic Commando, Metal Gear, Mario, TMNT to name a few already just from the screens and trailer at a glance.
This is coming out for the Wii via Wiiware 2010 according to the trailer, the developer also has mentioned there may be an HD upgrade for the PS3/360 in the future but thats talk for now.

I remember reading an article on this back when it was going to be a WiiWare exclusive. Sounds awesome.

I ran out of space a long time ago. There's only something like 512 MB of space. SD Cards a a good solution though... you can even play games directly from the cards without copying anything over.
But I'm pretty sure they've since expanded to other platforms, so you won't have to worry about that if you don't want to.
