Unless you've been in a hole, I'm sure you already know the PS3 has been Jailbroken. Unless you've been in a deep hole, you must already know the jailbreak allows the user to dump games to their HDD and play them with an alternate disc. And now, you can access your PS3 like an FTP server to take a peak and modify the workings of the PS3's file system. And thanks to that handy little application, you can now play your PS3 games on your PSP via Remote Connect, like we were promised we could all those years ago.

Remote play on non-remote play games!
by admin on September 9th, 2010
At first I thought games that weren’t remote play enabled probably ran really slow and lagged terribly. I was wrong, the first game I tried this on was Killzone 2 and it ran surprisingly well no audio lag, buttons were responsive, and the video was smooth without any hiccups.
How to:
1. Dump any game of your choice to your hdd
2. Install Ps3 FTP and launch it
3. Connect via ftp and navigate to your hdd folder then to games -> LAUN12345 -> GAMEZ -> YOUR GAME ID -> PS3_GAME
4. Now copy PARAM.SFO and make a backup of it just in case
5. Download SFO Editor open the sfo and check “enable remote play”
6. Save it and then open up the FTP and transfer the modded sfo back into the PS3_GAME folder.
7. Now connect your psp in remote play and enjoy.
I'm playing RDR on my PSP at my computer as I type this, and it works perfectly. There's some audio stutter, but other than that everything's fine. With some button mapping there really aren't any big drawbacks.
It's amazing what's been churning out ever since the PS3 was cracked open.
Why would you play on a tiny baby screen?
Why would you play on a tiny baby screen?
Mobility? Comfort? To say you can?
Why would you play on a tiny baby screen?
When you are playing on a PSP for a while and you are really getting into a game, that 'tiny baby screen' doesn't matter at all.
The portability of it man, imagine.
The portability of it man, imagine.
Yeah man, imagine the portability of being able to play your favorite game while you are on the toilet at your own house!
Are you telling me, I can watch carpet OUTSIDE?!
You could use this to play and use your PS3 over the internet with your PSP as well. Car trips? Vacations? Down time at work/school? Pretty fuckin sweet.
Well... You could if Sony didn't take the lead in the arms race today. They released FW 3.42 which patches the exploit the jailbreak takes advantage of yesterday, which means you'll have to stay at 3.41 to keep using the jailbreak. This means you won't have access to the PSN, as today they patched two different known PSN holes that allowed you to access the PSN on old FW versions.
So basically, no PSN = no internet remote connect. But local network remote connect does still work.

But I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they find another hole in the FW or PSN vulnerability.
Can I listen to swiss, provolone or cheddar?
This calls for a little Egoraptor:

Thank you Take_Opal.
Also you can use Remotejoy or whatever the opposite is, to stream it from the psp to the PC, then you can set up buttons, ala ps3 on pc

If you don't mind a latency of +30ms to your every movement, and you have fast enough up/downstream on both devices, I'm sure it's not impossible to do.
how is it even possible to play RDR with the lack of some buttons and an analog stick
how is it even possible to play RDR with the lack of some buttons and an analog stick
Inconceivable!
how is it even possible to play RDR with the lack of some buttons and an analog stick
You can set up button mapping on the PSP. ie, Select + L or R = L2 or R2, Select + Analog = R Analog, Select + Start = PS Button.
Wait, how is the PSP able to display the game with the inferior specs?
Wait, how is the PSP able to display the game with the inferior specs?
the game is processed or whatever on the ps3, and the image is sent to the psp over wifi
sortof like onlive
What about the missing analog stick and shoulder buttons?
Look four posts up...
Is there anyway to mod the PS3 with a PSP or USB yet? I don't have an Android.
Kind of redundant when it's gonna get patched to hell before it takes off...
Already has, 3.42 fixes the exploit. But there's nothing making you update.
Kind of redundant when it's gonna get patched to hell before it takes off...
Kind of a redundant post, since i believe you have no idea what custom firmware and homebrew is. Also the fact, that most people are avoiding the 3.42 patch.
PS3 controllers come with a USB port that can be plugged into the top of the PSP. So if you feel like a really redundant controller, I guess you can plug it into the PS3 that way.
Can this work with blu-rays? That would be fucking amazing.
Can this work with blu-rays? That would be fucking amazing.
You won't get blu-ray quality, the PSP screen is only 480x272 (top of my head talking here). So that wouldn't be worth the effort.

I realize that, But I have many blu-ray discs that I don't have on DVD's and I have one blu-ray player and should be getting a ps3 soon.

That and BD-Net
I find it hard to read text on my hard screen TV which is about 26", I can't imagine what it'd be like on a PSP screen.
So you're saying that I could cast me playing, for example, final fantasy 7 that i'm playing on my psp, and cast it to my PC, and then broadcast that image to a friend?
Yes
