The article talks about the potential for Cloud based gaming in the future, towards the end of this next console cycle. Thinking about the recent advances in gaming and tech in the last few years, it doesn't seem too far fetched. http://ejectdisk.com/playstation-4-the-last-console/ Would I want all gaming to be cloud based? No, but fast forward 10-15 years. I could see a future where you can either buy the PS5 or XboxWhatever, or you can keep your current system and then just stream the next gen games on your current system. Sure the streaming would have a fee attached, but so does most things. My thinking is, if a PS4 can stream Ps4 games, why not future games? What do you guys think?
I can't see it working till everyone has a stable high speed connection
I can't see it working till everyone has a stable high speed connection
Same, but I mean towards the end of this new generation of consoles, that should be getting close to reality. Look at 13 years ago when people were running on their 56kbps dial up connections.
Onlive worked reasonably well. I was able to beat Just Cause 2 on it. If cheap, broadband internet could be available to all I could see it becoming a viable alternative to consoles or traditional PC gaming, especially in impoverished areas. Because then you won't need to shell out for an expensive console or gaming-tier PC. You could just get one of those cloud net-books and have access to a fairly large library of games at virtually any moment. Then it just becomes a matter of buying or renting the games.
