I'm bored at work and I wanna play something in the vein of Diablo or Neverwinter nights, or whatever. I'm not really sure how to go about searching for that in google, so I figured I'd ask you guys if you know of any free games in that vein that I can download, nothing too old that won't run on Windows 7 however.
do your job
Baldur's Gate is fun, though.
For free games, I really cannot point anything out. But for relatively cheap you can buy Torchlight, which is down right amazing and is basically Diablo with better graphics and more spell animation.
Er, forgot to mention, I'm a laptop with integrated Intel graphics, so it's not BAD, but definitely can't run anything that's demanding in the graphics department.

I kind of disagree with this. Diablo is old but still has great graphics. Torchlight i loved but the graphics were kind of cartoony. Still good though.

I'm gonna get the demo and see if I can even run it. If I can, I may buy it. I need a time killer game.

Get Minecraft for a time killer :p (cheaper also)

Is it anyting like WURM? I mean in the sense of learning curve and time investment.

Hell no, minecraft is to wurm as runescape is to WoW

No, minecraft is simple, yet fun. Make a house during day, survive during night.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good game but still.

I'll check out some gameplay videos of each (Torch and Mine)
And yeah, Torch is cheap, but not as cheap as I'd like.

Yeah but you have a very expansive dungeon. Hell, i think two or three, 'cause one or two open up after you beat the story.
Torchlight is pretty massive. I think steam has an achievement for "speed run" and complete the game in six hours.
Also there is a shit ton of mods for the game, I downloaded one that had like 20 more classes, enhanced graphics, increased the level cap to 200 while making the game harder, and another that put more dungeons, items, and crap into the game.
Cool, maybe it's worth the investment then.
Torchlight isn't free but it's cheap.
I got Torchlight during the Christmas sale last year and well... I haven't played it much, I never really liked dungeon crawlers, but it was cheap, the graphics are awesome, and the gameplay was pretty cool. The whole random generation thing was badass.
If you're looking to spend money, I'd say Titan Quest is the best Diablo-like.
Actually Titan Quest isn't bad, and it's $6 on D2D atm.
Minecraft can be as hard as you want as complex as you want. Just set it to peaceful and build massive structures.
Did you seriously just sell him Minecraft as Diablo-like? Christ.

Nope, he said as a timekiller game.
I'm more surprised by the fact that people are suggesting games that cost money than the Minecraft suggestion. The whole point was free.
Although, I can do $6 for Titan Quest.
save up money, wait until torchlight 2.
save up money, wait until torchlight 2.
Sigh.
You could try Runescape, it's kind of like Diablo and it's got enough free content to keep you entertained for a bit.
save up money, wait until torchlight 2.
Might aswell wait for Diablo 3 then.
Minecraft will keep you for months. It has small dungeons that you can find, and the caves can be extremely massive. I haven't met anyone who doesn't love it yet. The map is randomly generated too. The game is nearly always getting new updates too.
Try this: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/546991 It's like zelda with diablo's item system.
Well, got Torchlight. I do not regret it at all. It reminds me so much of the original Diablo and I'm having a blast playing it. At first, I didn't like the cartoony, WoW style graphics but I think they look nice now. Definitely getting TL2 'cause I heard there's coop.
Theres MU Online
Although theres lots of grinding....
Little quests (Job advancement, and one random shit)
Gets boring really quickly.
