Hey guys, I've been trying to do a machinima, but Source Recorder is being a dick. Each time I do [startmovie name avi] it keeps crashing. I have no idea how to fix this and I'm also pretty sure after typing that It should appear the compression menu, but it doesn't. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, it would be great. Trying my best for this machinima and not doing something randumb.

Have you tried Alt-Tabbing? That is what you need to do if you play in Fullscreen
It's not just you, couple of people I know are also having trouble with source recorder.
Which game? I think Gmod is pretty bad with source recorder sometimes.

Try not using AVI and compiling the resulting TGA's & WAV into a video with virtualdub/vegas
I use XviD codec. Works pretty well for quality.
Use DivX, its pretty good. Also, make sure your resolution is good.
the AVI method is currently broken, use TGA instead
