Hello,
Sometime last year I sold my Xbox 360 Pro along with all of my games and purchased a PS3. While I love the PS3 and consider it the superior console, I like the 360 almost as much and miss playing games with my friends.
I am planning on buying an Xbox 360 in addition to my PS3 and PC as gaming machines and am in a rut as to what to buy/what'll be the best deal.
For example, is it worth it to pay for a $240 Xbox 360 Elite and then just buy everything else to go along with it? Such as a network adapter and the likes.
Or should I go used rather than new to save money? I'd like to not spend a ton of money on it considering I've already dropped a ton from the PS3.
Make your friends switch to the PC gaming master race.

Force your friends to switch to the PC gaming master race.
Your friends need to start thinking outside of the Box.
I just bought the Arcade one which is way cheaper than the Elite and basically built my own hard drive. It saved me loads of money and I now have a 250 GB hard drive for $70.

Get the fuck out. Seriously. As if my friends have enough money to throw down 1k for a decent PC. We're all 15 or about there.

He was kidding.
I hope.
Oh and 1k for a decent PC? What.

i had trouble typing "$600" so i went with two characters instead
Buy the new one, 300$ with wireless included, can't overheat, and is ALOT quieter then the older ones. You'll save money on that one instead of paying 199$ for an old one.
Get the slim or whatever it's called, it comes with a built in wireless adapter and is really well priced.

Not everyone has the technical knowhow or enough money to warrant risking fucking up to build a PC.

Well yeah but do I get the 4GB version or the 250GB? I don't know if 250GB is worth it and I'd rather save the extra 50 bucks for a game or two.
Theres a 4gb version? I got the 250, and I'm contempt with it, I can install all of my games on it and still have enough for some direct download games.

All there is to that, though, is common sense. If you don't put it in a box then you're fine.
Just to give a heads up, the 4gb arcade version is internal memory, meaning games that require a hard drive to play will still require an actual hard drive. (Don't expect online co-op or online firefight on Halo Reach with this people.) 250gb is too much in my opinion, so go for an older 20gb Xbox hard drive and put that hard drive into the Slim. You will save loads of money since these drives are pretty much obsolete. This surprisingly works perfectly as my friend did it. It involves taking the actual drive out of the casing and plugging it directly into the slim (same sata ports.)

If it broke, why didn't you send it to Microsoft?
I could easily build a decent gaming PC for todays standard for 500$, not that much.
But still, get the new Xbox 360 slim if your going to bother.
OP just a heads up, if you are going to play Halo:Reach, don't get the Slim! There's no hard drive on it, and you need one for matchmaking and most online stuff.

Well there's a 250GB hard drive on the $300 slim, but I don't know where I could get that much money.
