Believe it or not, I played the mobile version on my friend's phone and had so much fun. I've always wanted to try the PC version but I'm worried that there's a learning curve.
I had so much trouble adapting to X3.
So which one should I start with? Something newer suits me.
Simcity 4 or SimCity Societies?
Simcity 3000 is the only one you need.
Sim City 3000 is a good stepping stone before Sim City 4.
Sim City 4. Societies does not belong in the Sim City canon.

Plus, there's no real difference in the learning curve between 3000 and 4 despite what the above users say.
sim city 4
Get SimCity 4 Deluxe if you can. We can help you get the right mods to enhance your playing experience too.

List them anyways, I could use them. :buddy:
4 Deluxe, Societies is terrible
I'm having a little trouble with the Rush Hour tutorial. I can't build the damn bridge!

NAM is pretty good, get it (and others) from http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/?p=files&display=popular
That site has pretty much everything you could need.
So far, it's really fun. I've a question though.
What should I build to earn more income?

For some reason I was able to get to 1 million population in 3000 about three times faster than Sim City 4.
Build out, before building up. The #1 advice you'll ever hear for a generalized city.
SimCity 2000 is the only good SimCity.

Game gets really choppy when I scroll around. Even on empty land.
Any fixes?

Lower graphics settings?
Change graphics settings to hardware from software, or vice versa, depending on what it's selected on, and see if that helps.
Rush Hour was the shit. I always wanted to make an explosion like in the intro video..

Software rendering helps actually!
Yeah, it's pretty counter intuitive if you have a decent GFX card, I had the same problem.
