I am trying to make the whole minecraft world One Big City. I know some stuff I want to build but past that I am drawing up blanks. I need suggestions of stuff to add to that world. Feel free to say any building and/or architecture
you do realize the effective minecraft map size is something like 8 times the surface of earth you'll be doing this for thousands of years
not really. It will take 6 months to a year and a half depending on how much I play each day which has been 10-12 hours so far and that increases on the weekend. I do not know If I plan on using the entire world or most of the world and then using the rest as like open land for other people to build later

bro, if you are gonna be just an all out prick, get off of the thread. This is for people to suggest ideas, not to be a dick who thinks trash talking on a forum does anything
I can confirm that this is a bad thread containing a bad idea by a bad poster.
seriously? Just asking for ideas is a bad thread? You guys forget the purpose of a forum. If you are going to be a complete ass, get off the forum completely
So just to reiterate, the surface area of the Earth is 510,072,000 km2. Since you appear to dedicate half your life to minecraft, let's say that you manage to fill up about 4km^2 per day. This means that you'd have to do that for about 127,518,000 days, or 349,125.25 years. Then multiply that time by 8. Again, this is assuming that you fully build up an area of 2000x2000 blocks. To answer your question, put a banging donk on it.
seriously? Just asking for ideas is a bad thread? You guys forget the purpose of a forum. If you are going to be a complete ass, get off the forum completely
People are 'being a complete ass' because you have a shortsighted, naive, and downright stupid view of just how large a Minecraft world is. The world is about thirty million square blocks or so. I'm going to presume that your plan involves the use of a superflat world. If you wanted to cover the entire world in a layer of stone one block deep, and presuming that the block placement speed is about one block every half second, you would be there for several decades at the very least, and that's presuming you don't need sleep, food, or an actual life - and one layer of blocks does not make a city. Yes, at one point, it was possible to fill an entire Minecraft world. In fact, servers routinely ran into that issue. However, that was back when about five minutes of walking could take you to one side of the map to the other, and when infinite worlds didn't exist. In short, your idea would take longer than an average human lifespan and is entirely impossible, so don't get angry because people are telling you the blunt truth.
Step 1: make one building Step 2: mcedit copy+paste step 3: done!
Fallen, don't listen to these negative Nancies, You can do it! Why don't you make a city on ground, that connects to another city underwater, also a city in the sky, a sky island. I may suggest world edit, depending if its SP or MP, Try to make street lights that turn on and off, that would be cool Also, invite some friends, who you can trust.
OP are you 11?

You really don't, trust me.
You guys are all silly, I made a mod that turns the world into an infinite village generation. Covering the whole world took .001 seconds.
I think an industrial district would be a good edition. Oppa STEAMPUNK style. :P
One of my friends and I have been playing for a couple of years now. We're still only in a 5km^2 space, and haven't exactly filled all possible areas. (Granted, we don't play massively often) But seriously, you will not manage.
You will not survive.
2 years ago I wanted to try building my town. I opened Google maps and forgot about the idea very quickly. Don't even dare trying it OP, it's not even worth it.
You should start with a massive tower wherever the center is (think Seattle) and build it off of there.
More interesting idea? Come up with a world gen mod for infinite city. Good luck: http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/aliaga/cs535-12/lectures/grammars/proc-mod-bldgs.pdf
