Does anyone know of any games that play similar to an MMORPG (combat system, skills, quests) but aren't an MMORPG? It's a weird concept to ask, but surely there must be a few. I'm going to try Gothic 3 but apart from that I can't think of any. I'm also playing Dragon age, and it's the perfect game but controlling four players at once is a little too micro-management for me. Bonus points for a medieval/fantasy game, and a game in which I can play as an archer of some sorts.
Oblivion
Oblivion
Any Elder Scrolls game, really. Except for Redguard and Battle Spire.
I was hoping for a third person game, I really should of mentioned it in my original post. I know that the Elder scrolls games do have third person but don't work that great.
I'd say torchlight, but people might disagree.

Mount and blade. It has some traits that gives out the mmorpg feeling

It's first person, but one of the titles I really liked was Might and Magic : Dark Messiah http://store.steampowered.com/app/2100/ Downside is lack of freedom (going from A to B) The story is great, got a leveling system in which you can choose your skills and it has more endings. The control of your character feels great, because it uses the Source engine and good physics (controls are WSAD and mouse to move your character). You can kick enemies in fires or pins, or use the sword to cut ropes so something swings at the enemy. And you can use bows as well. There is even one bow that you need to create ropes to climb on stuff. It's a good mix between RPG and FPS in short in a fantasyworld.
So you're asking for an MMORPG.
Mount & Blade might be good for you.
Final Fantasy 12
Hellgate London
I wouldn't call Oblivion an MMORPG-like game because the monsters level with you, Morrowind on the other hand..
So you want an MMORPG that isn't MMO. So like, an RPG? :hurr:
ITT people who can't read. OP is asking for an RPG that plays out like an MMORPG, not just any RPG without the MMO.
I don't get it how does that work
For example Hellgate London. It has both MMO mode and singleplayer mode, you level up in zones that are designated for your level characters, and levelized gear. I would define an "MMORPG-like RPG" being an RPG where everything depends on your level and gear, so you can't go fight the final boss of the game without first being level 20 and grinding your arse off killing some skeletons or doing side quests or something. [editline]03:01PM[/editline] I've been told that "The Witcher" plays out like an MMO, even though it's singleplayer. Never played it myself.
Kotor! You can get good with blasters, almost like archery...almost.
HellMOO :downs:
I don't get it how does that work
As "HALP cat" said, I wanted an RPG that plays like an MMORPG, not just any RPG. I think I'll give Hellgate London and Kotor a go, both sound quite fun and different than what I play, Witcher just doesn't quite do it for me, I haven't played it but as far as I know it's about vampires, thank you for the suggestions though, I've played practically every other game suggested but, I appreciate it.
Oblivion times a thousand. I normally don't even like magic-ey games and I'm in love with it.
Hellgate London doesn't exist anymore.
A heavily modded ARMA 2 or GTA 4 would do, you can mod them both into life simulators.
KOTOR is fun.
he wants something like world of warcraft, but no other people.
