Last year i posted in a thread about episode three and something about breen. This thread: http://www.facepunch.com/showpost.php?p=18744258&postcount=108
Do you think Wallace Breen was actually an enemy in Half Life 2, or he tried to become a hero? Maybe he wanted to go to the Combine overworld to fight the combine, and he didn't want to kill the people. Maybe the combine actually covered that. Maybe he was just a corrupting puppet, didn't you saw Nihilanth? It was HL1's breen, just that he didn't tried to escape. Also, in the Seven Hour War, he saved the humans offering to being the Combine's puppet, and making the humans slaves, as there wasn't any other chances to let the humans alive. I'm sure Breen wanted to work with Freeman for good plans, fight the combine with him, just doing the same thing he did the way to the Citadel, or not, because i'm not sure he needed to talk with the Advisors, unless they are not part of the Combine! One of the Fp'ers made a theory about a different Advisors:
So it seems that there are two different advisor types throughout the hl2 series:
The Combat Advisor: It is fast, and can stun enemies. It is smaller and is less bulkier. It seems quicker because of smaller size. it has smaller and more flexible hands for grabbing objects and such. It also can move objects with telekenisis. It Can Levitate and it is seen in Hl2 episode 2. It seems to feed off of Humans:

Then there is the Monitor Advisor: This is the Advisor that we see Dr. Breen talking to in Hl2. It has claws and seems bigger and less maneuverable. If you look through the Hl2 model viewer it has few combat moves it can claw and thats about it. There is no evidence that it can move objects with its mind. It also seems to be able to communicate with humans:

So tell me this, is that advisor model just an early model of the advisor or is it a completley different type? Discuss
It could be possible that the Combine Advisor from Half Life 2 (The full game, not the entire series with the episodes) is actually a Xen monster, or a rebellion against the Combine. The one from Episode Two would be a Combine synth (The real "combine advisor") used to leak information (Head-raping). If it's just an updated model, the EP1-2-"3" ones could have been brainwashed to work with the combine, like the Overwatch. And why would it have different things on him if it was an updated model? I think that if Breen came back in the third installment of the series, there would be possibilities that he became a rebel instead of an enemy. Anyway i think it's a bit cliché, but whatever. I hardly believe this will be revealed in the next episode, if it comes out. Don't be rude about this as i respect anyone in here. I am sorry if i posted this in a wrong zone, but this is a Valve games related forums. Goddamnit i want to play Half-Life 2 right now.
Discuss.
I think the original Advisor model is different because it's an older one, the Ep2 ones are recently hatched. The original one probably has different hands because they realised the old ones weren't a very good design.
Of course it's a Combine monster, it has mechanical parts grafted onto it.
Breen won't come back. His voice actor is dead. I personally think the advisors are synths, because if they would be the real combine who would have made the synths? with their body structure they're not anywhere near able to craft metal and shit
Yeah, but i think the Breen theory is more possible. Now that i think about the death of his voice actor, yeah it wouldn't come back. But maybe as a Combine Advisor?

Would not make sense.
Pretty sure he died at the end of HL2 anyway.

Not if his lines were recorded pre-death.
It only happened in March and its not like he was dying from anything long-term which would keep him from the recording studio.
The advisors we see in EP1 and HL2 and the ones we see in EP2 are the same advisor, the parts of the advisor we could see without opening his model in the model viewer didn't change in EP2. It's just a new higher poly model, because in EP2 our encounter with the advisors is closer
I doubt that there are more classes of advisors, Valve probably redesigned it to look better since it takes a bigger role in Episode 2.
The concept of Breen:
Surely, everyone knows of Breen's line of "A host body? You must be joking, I can't possibly- There he is! Oh all right, damn it, if that's what it takes!"
This arises that theory that Breen may be in a different form if he reappears. And if he's in a different form, than they can get away with a different voice actor! If he's going to be an advisor, I doubt he'll sound very human.
Why would breen try to bring combine to destroy other combine?
That just sounds...dumb.
I was reading something about Breen on SPUF about a month ago. Now, I don't know how to put this into sentences, but I'll do my best.
Some guys at SPUF don't think the Combine would give Breen a host body anyway. He failed them, and he was no longer a useful puppet. He was just another human.
Now, that doesn't dispel the thought that Breen could return. That's speculation. As others have said, Culp could've recorded Breen's dialogue earlier before his death. (I'd sure have a spazz attack if that turned out to be true. :smile) Or, he could return as some Combine creation, his voice being either distorted or ultimately absent.
About the Advisors: I think that they are the same, really. At the end of Ep1, you see all of those Advisor pods launching from the Citadel. I don't see a point in keeping Battle Advisors trapped in the Citadel when they could be helping the ground forces.
Remember how they had to "hatch" from their pods. The Overwiki speculates that they had to go though some "rebirth" process to function outside the Citadel. Besides, Advisors aren't meant to fight anyway. The only reason they [sp]killed Eli[/sp] anyway was because the Superportal was closed and the Combine were desperate.
Wow, that was a lot of pointless information.
Valve might not have seen them as im[portant charcters, so the models were never worked on in extreme detail.

Well but there's a possibility to see him when he was young.
I'm pretty sure the Advisor that Breen was talking to was one of the Combine 'overlord' Advisors, who had the authority to tell Breen what to do about the resistance.
The one you kill in Ep2 and the ones that show up in the end, I believe are either younger Advisors, or lower-rank 'grunt' Advisors.
Breen was talking about a host body, so technically they don't need his old voice anymore. They can hire a new actor, put him in a new body, and say he was re-incarnated.

It could be that over time they've devolved/evolved into this, after all they're giant floating slugs who have a habit of grafting machinery into any species they inslave, whos to say they aren't beyond messing around with their own body structure.

Personally I don't think they will bring Breen back in anyway shape or form out of respect for the voice actor of Breen.
Yes, the end boss of HL1 attempted to be a hero.... By shooting you with deadly laser balls.
Guys, we haven't heard any of Breen's lines since HL2. Seeing as he died a good time after EP2 was released, Valve's probably already recorded all the lines they're gonna need from him.
