• Do you think Kelly Bailey is severely underrated?

Now, maybe underrated might be the wrong word, maybe not, but that's just because i rarely meet anyone who even knows the guy, and when people finally hear his work, they say it sucks. Why? I consider this guy a masterpiece, and there's not much music that i really can't enjoy. I have just about every genre on my playlists, so i think i could relate to almost anyone in terms of music. Yet people seem to think that if a song doesn't have lyrics, it's not a song. I disagree. A song is made of the instruments, optional lyrics and the feeling you get from listening. If a song doesn't awaken a feeling, it's not a good song. It's a song that is dull, meaningless and probably doesn't sell for a lot. Now, allow me to give you a few examples of what i mean by "feeling" - Guile's theme from Street Fighter gives you this awesome feeling. It makes you want to do something great because it was designed to give you an inspiring feeling as a part of an important battle in a game. - Pretty much all TTGL music was probably aimed to be as inspirational as it could be, as the entire series was full of gar, metal and glory. I could find a few more, but i think you get the idea. Now, Kelly Bailey fits with Guile's theme's meaning as Kelly Bailey also makes music for games, in this case, for the Half-Life series. And that's the reason i made this thread in the Valve Games and Mods-section. Let me give a few examples of his work, so you can get a feel to the maker himself and then decide for yourself. Kelly Bailey makes usually electronic and ambient instrumental tracks. Just so you know what genre he is in. I think his music is amazing as background music and even as regular music. I love to listen to his ambients when taking a train home on a dark evening, or listen to something faster like Disrupted Original or Vortal Combat while jogging, boxing, going to the range or anything involving action. It really empowers life experience.
OH GOD THIS MUSIC IS GREAT. Need to hear more from him.
Good to see i did a good thing making this thread. Please, rate me informative to give me a warm and fuzzy feeling deep inside Also, have a look at these, IMO cool songs overall. Yup, Kelly Bailey also composed a part of 28 Weeks Later's soundtrack. I didn't know this 3 months ago. It's still a neat track, although i like the Half-Life tracks a bit more. About the first track, Kelly Bailey based it on John Murphy's 28 Days Later theme, but just made a cover with someone else, whose name i cannot remember.
I love Kelly Bailey. Though, I love Jeremy Soule a bit more. Then again they are very different.
I love Vortal Combat.
I like Mike Morasky's stuff better. (TF2, half of Portal 1 and 2, L4D series). [editline]09:39AM[/editline] God damnit, someone removed all my Valve Mail. Anyway, Mike said Baileys got some amazing stuff in the works. We just have to wait.
He's one of my favourite composers (the others being Bear McCreary and Greg Edmonson). His work in the original Half-Life was fucking amazing. Best example: And the tracks he made for Episode Two are great as well, "Vortal Combat" and "Last Legs" are my favourites. Vortal Combat. Last Legs.
Yeah, Drums and Riffs was a good track, liked it. Though i like Adrenaline Horror a bit more.
Kelly Bailey best Bailey
Kelly Bailey best Bailey
"Bailey's, sweet and sour" I never forget that commercial. He also made the test chamber sequence in a non-stop 48-hour programming with another employee. The man has guts.
Am I the only one who doesn't like Vortal Combat?
Am I the only one who doesn't like Vortal Combat?
Why not?
You're what's wrong with good posting
http://www.facepunch.com/showpost.php?p=25166206&postcount=904 :irony: Also Electronic shit is dumb because it is the only music people ever make anymore, in the art section it is always CHECK OUT THE MUSIC I MADE and it is always garbage from their pirated fl studio. What ever happened to getting a few friends to practice/play real instruments together and spend a day in a recording studio.
