That sound is pretty generic in games.
Aren't the sounds CSS uses like open source or something? Something with the barrel sound in STALKER and Half-life 2, people freaked out about it until they found out the sounds where free or something.
I believe it's a standard sound for videogames, or something.

Jep, those sounds are free to use.
Their also being wrongly used. Those lids shouldn't make that sound IMO. Unless there wasnt anything other then those lids.
How do people notice these stuff and how do people even bother to care?
Stock sounds.
Call valve they will be dissapoint.
Call valve they will be dissapoint.
They don't have legal right to be disappoint. It's an open-source sound.
I think we go through this with every new game release. "Similar sounds, so clearly x stole from Valve."
Valve uses stock sounds. Fuck, even the Witch from Left 4 Dead uses a stock sound for her cry. You can hear it in Black and White 2, if I'm not mistaken.
It's a stock sound. That's the walking on metal sound in pretty much all of the source games.

I should of /sarcasm.
Its a stock sound.
A whole bunch of sounds in HL2 are in Metro 2033 as well.

For the noticing part, when you play a game enough you unintentionally familiarize yourself with different sound cues etc. For example, I spotted a metal bending sound from a videogame in 28 Days Later.
For the caring part, guess some just want to ride the high horse.

It's annoying how much Valve games use stock sounds, really. Since you start to associate the sounds with the games, and you notice them in movies etc.

I always hear explosion sounds or metal clanging sounds that Valve uses in movies. It's distracting...
weird huh how that can be

Your question was already answered.

Yep. Same goes for that cow sound in TF2. The very same sound is being used in Civ 5 etc.

because the same sounds in different games isn't a big problem
if however the sound was a voice actor talking and the developer or publisher used it without permission then yeah thats kinda wrong
It was in Metro 2033 too.
but does anyone know wher you can find those open sounds?

What's the reason for that?
Also this kinda reminds me of the Wilhelm scream, it's in WAY too many games nowadays, I also noticed it today in Hydrophobia. It doesn't make you proud of finding it anymore, now it's just a lame gimmick.
A lot of times I hear a door closing on tv and I recognize the sound from hitman, but I don't make a thread about it.
You are simply too cool.
