I personally think that its going to be like the N64 Disc Drive, or the Virtual Boy, its also just 40 dollars cheaper, and less quality put into the model. It says it plays NDS games and 3DS games which the 3DS can do also, plus the 3D is optional. It may sell well, but I doubt it. Post your opinions on it.
good cheap way to get a 3DS, but i still prefer the 3DS XL
i'm getting one
i want a cheap 3ds, but i dont care at all for the 3d gimmick, so its fine by me
It's the Game Boy Micro of the 3DS line. Made for a small amount of consumers.
That is a valid thing, if your not interested in the 3D function then go ahead. It is meant to be aimed at 7 year through 10 year old.
Aimed at children or not the design is extremely off-putting. It looks like a split screen tablet with buttons on the side.

You guys are wrong, this handheld is aimed for kids UNDER 7 years of age (at least that is what IGN wrote in their article, they even quoted Fils-Aime ).

What a great and huge untapped market.
Seriously they could've just made a cheaper normal 3DS sized handheld instead of trying to please a market that isn't there/is really super small.

kids + hinges never ends well

I don't know why people don't get this. Hinges are an incredibly fragile design. A thick slate is not.

Yes and? Kids and pretty much every electronic device ever never ends well.
Just because the thing is marketed to kids doesn't mean they couldn't have made a console much smarter.
I just find this appealing to a really small market so weird, and I hate how that thing looks.

Dear god, the original 3DS still exists, I don't know why the design of the 2DS bothers you so much

Because a cheaper 3DS with better materials would've been really fucking cool?
Especially how the upper screen of the original 3DS gets scratched from the touchpad borders and has a really reflecting screen.
I really want to get a hold of this thing. I'm just hoping so bad that although it looks silly, it feels great to hold.
Apparently it's moderately comfy to hold, has a decent compatible games library, doesn't have the rather finicky 3D function and would be more durable than a hinged system and simple to use courtesy of Nintendo's UI
I see the appeal in it (though as a power-user I prefer devices such as the Shield). Hopefully it pricedrops to $99 before the holidays.

Well unlike every other portable console (exception: Nvidia Shield), there seems to be a good area to grasp the device and actually be able to extend your thumb a good amount instead of cramping them up (sort of how the Wii U controller is comfy to hold and the PSP is not for an extended period of time).

(a little exaggerated due to hand size, but you get the point)
Good point, maybe I'll get one if it really is more comfortable. After a period of gaming on my 3DS XL my fingers get crampy.

Yeah my Vita gets really cramped if I don't have the PDP trigger grips on it. The triggers aren't ergonomic.
