I'm pretty sure this isn't a physical computer problem since i've played this game with no problems since the day I downloaded it. Just in case though, here it is (don't laugh). The computer I am using is a Dell Inspiron 1501 and the Turion Processor is 2.0 GHz Single.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, my problem started back when 2 nights ago I was playing a few games with my cousin cody and everything was smooth. When he got off I decided to switch servers and play some more. The first symptom I've noticed is every time I would go to turn left or right with my mouse, the turning would become very choppy. At first I figured it was my computer overheating until I noticed every body was running around perfectly fine with no sign of frame rate drop. So I decided to live with it for this game.
The next game however, I would go to press W to walk around and what would happen is that my character will stand still for about 7 seconds at the most then however long I have pressed the W button, the character will keep walking for that long while at the same time disabling the ability to turn left and right and look around with the mouse. If I don't press any of the movement buttons, I can perfectly move my mouse around without the game skipping or lagging at all.
My first solution to this problem was to uninstall from steam and reinstall. This did not remedy the problem. I'm wondering what I could do to get this game working again. I tried describing everything to the best of my ability so I hope this helps. If you need more information I will gladly deliver.
They changed the engine to a newer one recently, maybe that causes the problems.
maybe. but my cousin has a computer with lower specs than mine and works flawlessly so I don't understand why it won't work on mine.

wait what? If your computer is overheating it shouldn't affect other people anyway

Of course not. Still if my computer was overheating I would still see the other players skipping even though they are actually not. I don't even know how to explain it, I'm very close to just using the shotgun method on this computer and reinstalling windows if I don't find a solution soon.
