Lost Planet 2 is a third-person shooter developed for PC ,Xbox 360 and PS3.
The campaign:
The story follows 3 different snow pirate factions, so you won't play as a single character. The story is split in 6 chapters, each of which follows a different character.
The campaign also supports 4 player cooperative online play.

So what has changed from LP1?
[release]
Campaign
The campaign follows different factions and characters

The entire campaign is made for 4-player co-op, but can be played alone if you wish or with bots

The campaign has a lot more variety, one mission for example has you manning a huge railway cannon to keep a titanic Akrid at bay
Weapons and VSs
Many new weapons have been added, most of which will have 3 variants which change how the weapon works

Lots of new grenades, most also have 3 variants

Loads of new VSs, and much more variety in VSs (flyers, subs, transforming VSs and so on)
The world
The world has changed a lot, now there are jungles, deserts and more instead of only snow and ice
Customization
LP2 uses a character system, so you will be able to choose what character you want, like NEVEC, Snow Pirates and so on

Loads more character parts have been added, custom weapon loadouts have been added and abilities have been added (think perks)

Special characters depending on platform have been added (Wesker and Frank for everyone, COGs for 360 and Helgast for PS3)
The engine
LP2 runs on MTFramework 2.0, to give you an idea RE5 ran on 1.5

This also means that it is most probably moddable, at least to the extent RE5 was
[/release]
The Bosses:
An important part of Lost Planet 2 will be the huge boss fights, I'm not going to spoil them all but here are 3:
[release]
Gordiant
Usually called "Salamander".
First off, the Gordiant is the final boss you'll encounter in Episode 1. And he likes snacking on little menacing snow pirates like yourself. But don't worry, if he gobbles you up that's not the end of you. You'll find yourself able to shoot up his juicy innards and take the rear exit, if you catch my drift.

Besides eating you, the Gordiant also has a few other attacks you should be prepared for. He can release a shockwave that will reach you no matter where you or your friends are at on the map. Then he has his whip like tongues that strike with pin-point accuracy. He uses his tail like a spike covered club, which hits hard enough to throw boulder sized chunks off the pillars of rock in the area you'll fight him in. And being so big, sometimes he'll just bum rush you and tramp you to death!
Gordiant is one of the smallest bosses you'll see.
Akrid X
A combination of an Akrid and a dragon, lots of fire attacks and stuff.
His attacks range very widely, including quite a few nasty tricks with his glowing arm. He'll swipe at you and your allies, and even focus in for a painful pin-point stab.

Be on the look out for his throw. Akrid X picks up anything he can find, like rocks, or even train cars and hurls them at you. And if you get hit by a train... well, you'll be watching that respawn screen.
He also breathes fire and throws exploding fireballs. The fire attacks are pretty varied, as he'll just straight up burn everything in sight, or focus on close range attacks to mop up you ankle biters out there (that attack lasts a long time), and of course throwing those explosive fireballs I mentioned.
Red Eye
Remember Green Eye? Well this one is even bigger:
And like all akrid, he's pretty intent on eating you. Just this time if you get swallowed, you won't have a chance come out like you do with the Gordiant. So there's some simple tactics to prevent getting nommed, like shooting off some of the trains cargo to fill his mouth with exploding barrels, or just filling his mouth full of rockets.

Once the Red Eye realizes you won't be eaten without a fight, he'll start using some other tactics to soften you up and distract you while he tries to swallow you whole. First, he'll come up along side the train and start launching various pods of doom upon you and the train. The types of pods he launches range from giant exploding spike covered bombs, to pods encasing mini akrid that will track you down while you're trying to survive on the train. And after launching these, he'll bash his whole body into the train trying to derail you.
This one, as you can see, is pretty damn huge.

It's out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
I liked first one, it was not perfect, but fun to play. I hope it will be ported to pc.
Hope it will be ported as well.

One thing I did not like about the first one was the ending, [sp]you lost your memory and can't remember anything[/sp].
It is not that easy to make a good ending that will please everyone :D

That's true, but honestly the "memory loss" was depressing, we did all of that only to forget it and nobody else besides 2 snow pirates (Luka and the guy) will know it?
The same for the Halo 3 ending, just a name carved on a pice of metal in the middle of the desert that nobody will see?
Yeah, "halo sux lol", but the first one was really good and I grew attached to the storyline, that is why I care.

Did you do it on Legendary.
Did you do it on Legendary.
Yes, I watched the video after the credits, [sp]you are floating around in the cuttoff half of the ship, and you go into hibernation, and the ship drifts toward a planet[/sp], but I still did not really like the ending.
Still, the multiplayer on LP2 looks good, and let's hope we get some really big or tough VS's, some that last more than a pair of minutes.
Updated the OP now that there is more info available.
I didn't really enjoy the first one, but the 2nd one looks great.
I hope they're gonna port it to the PC.
Looks decent. Might give it a try.
Hopefully Capcom won't disappoint. Lately their PC versions have come out like five months later but they've been great quality and amazingly optimized.
Looking forward to this. Thoroughly enjoyed the first one even though I had no idea what the fuck was going on by the time I reached the end of the game. It's a shame there's no online community for the PC.
Anyone play the demo on XBL?
Announced for PC, I can't find a (good) news post but I do believe this will suffice:

To be honest though, they listened to the fans a bit too much, snow is what made LP1 special, it just doesn't feel the same without.
Nah i think it's fine. But the latest update is just laughable. They pretended to listen to the fans "fixing" all sorts of things, but leaving the major issues of the game in. In short, the update doesn't do much to fix the game.
Wait what issues were already there anyway? I never got anything going wrong.

At least the VSs drain T-ENG like leeches on blood, VSs were so overpowered because they were a pain in the ass to take out if you only had a machine gun.
its a great game

I played this game at my friends house, it felt pretty meh to me. Also whoever made the splitscreen should be beaten to death with a bat:
[img_thumb]http://theflickcast.com/wp-content/uploads//Lost-Planet-2-Screen-Shot-Split-Screen.jpg[/img_thumb]
I think that wins the contest for worst splitscreen design ever. Even with his ~52 inch TV I could barely see what was going on.

Yep, turns out it's RE5, it's not as bad, but look:

I mean seriously, it makes no fucking sense at all. They are not aligned, but not far apart enough to not touch either.

The picture I posted adds a bit more black space to it, but it's still ridiculous.
The point of the split screen like that is to easily distinguish which screen is yours and your partner's.
This game is fucking AWESOME! I love it. A lot. Add me on PSN to play some co-op.

Add Matrokill on PSN and I'll hopefully be on later tonight.
One thing i liked was the arkid hunter gametype...man playing as a bug and going on a rampage was fun

Modern Warfare 2 does it as well.
