It's due out in the spring of 2011, and is being developed by Scratch: The Ultimate DJ creator Bedlam Games. Daggerdale is the first digital download release for the franchise on XBLA, PSN and PC. Based on the announcement trailer, below, Daggerdale has a stylised aesthetic with a Mines of Moria feel. There's a dwarf. "The Forgotten Realms are under attack by the evil Zhentarim," reads the official blurb. It centers on the "desperate struggle to defeat the evil Rezlus and his Zhentarim in their attempt to invade and conquer the Dalelands". There's an "engaging" multiplayer experience that introduces a "riveting" narrative and "treacherous" new characters. You have to restore order to Nentir Vale by unlocking the secrets of the Mines of Tethyamar, defeating the evil within the treacherous Tower of the Void, leading to the final confrontation with Rezlus himself. Lovely. There's solo and co-op play for up to four players. The combat is described as pick-up-and-play, with loads of weapons, fears and powers. People are calling it the 'Dark Alliance' of now, and I can't fucking wait. I loved the Dark Alliance and Baldurs Gate series and I would love to see something like it brought up to the technology of today. I haven't even seen much about it, but this is a definite buy on the day / preorder for me.
Not going to be as fun as tabletop DnD. But a new Baldur's gate-like would be absolutely awesome.
I instantly thought of a combination of Daggerfell and Icewind dale, got excited, then I re-read the title. Still excited, just not as much.
I wish they'd just make a really nice official turn based DnD game with premade campaigns, singleplayer ability, and a great online mode with and without DMs.
Daggerdale huh? [img_thumb]http://www.legaljuice.com/knife.gif[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9e/Dale_KOTH.jpg/250px-Dale_KOTH.jpg[/img_thumb] [editline]16th March 2011[/editline] anyway, whats the gameplay like?
Not going to be as fun as tabletop DnD.
The D&D PSP game sort got the combat down, it was turn based, you could only move so far in a turn etc.

They could just as well rename it to anything else because this has nothing to do with DnD
They could just as well rename it to anything else because this has nothing to do with DnD
Yes it does, it takes place in the Dalelands.

It'll never be as good as Table-top RPGs, but you could never squash that much creativity into a video game.
It'll never be as good as Table-top RPGs, but you could never squash that much creativity into a video game.
Is it bad that I've never tried table top DnD?
Is it bad that I've never tried table top DnD?
I've never actually played DnD but I've done a load of other Table top RPGs. I'd recommend it, you'd be surprised how many people would love to give it a shot.
Another mindless hack and slash. :sigh:
Another mindless hack and slash. :sigh:
I don't see the problem. There aren't many that are done well, hopefully this one will.
But, there's far too many. What happened to the tactical RPG? DA:O was a glimmer of hope but that was shot to shit with its recent sequel.
Bump. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/25/dungeons-and-dragons-daggerdale-review/ Game is dog shit, knew it would be.
