what will the source engine look like after portal 2 is released?

i must know, because even l4d2 looks pretty shity, its about time for the source engine to look sexy.

The source engine will always be behind until it drops BSP. No matter how much optimisation and improvement they add, The BSP system will always hold it back.
Same engine as L4D2.
Do graphics really matter that much?
If graphics make or break a certain game, then the game isn't very good in areas of game play and story

Yes but there's a difference between stylizing and being held back by a horribly outdated engine. It's much harder to develop on source than it should be. It's unintuitive, it gives worse results, and it's less versatile than many other engines. I agree that graphics don't make or break a game, but the engine as a whole does have a significant impact on how well the game does what it does.
