You have access to a full suite of resources to help you do so from creating new ship designs to specifying how you would like your Empire to expand to managing your empire's diplomatic policies. As you play you'll unlock new technologies in a dynamic web, find unique phenomena, participate in huge battles, manage a complex and powerful diplomacy system, and design and modify your ships and strategies. Empires will declare war on you, your scientists will discover breakthroughs which can put you well ahead of your time, you can outfit your planets, stations, and stars with highly advanced technology and turn your stations into roving dealers of death. Okay so do we get to do anything? You guys get to decide what our long time goal is and to design ships and tell me what to research and what to kill. Credits to Star ruler thread for the description.
link? [editline]24th October 2010[/editline] like to the game [editline]24th October 2010[/editline] this is a game right
Update 1 This is the setup screen for a game, most of which is self explanatory, like AI settings and the map settings but a few like All technologies available are a bit obscure and will be explained later. This is the race setup menu for star ruler and right now is pretty basic but will be expanded upon in later patches and again most of this is explanatory, like the color and race name. At the start of the game your view is centered on your homeworld, which is the planet right there and you can also see our homestar Daxil there in the backround. At the top of the screen you will see a bar with Empire, Planet, Blueprints, System and Research, these are the five menus of the game and you will be using all of them a lot. In the upper right you see the system time, time played and time speed (Paused, .03, 0.06, 0.16, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 2x, 4x,6x,8x,10x). The upper left displays what you are currently researching, the time remaining, Along with how much of each resource you have along with how much you make a second if you press the right arrow. The bottom of the screen displays different things depending on what you have selected, if you have aa ship selected it shows its fuel, power, health and ammo amounts along with other things like cargo, while if you have a planet selected it shows how much and what kind of resources it has in stock. This is the empire screen it lets you propose things to other players, set the default planet Governor (AI) of your empire, lets you set civil acts that affect your empire (increase production while decreasing economy etc), organize your fleets and make a new colony AI. This is the Planet screen, which obviously lets you control what your planets build. The very top lists the planet name how many building slots and how many buildings the planet has, what governor is controlling it and if there is a governor controlling it. The middle part lets you queue up ships and buildings and also shows what ships are docked and what buildings are built on your planet, along with whats already queued to be built and whats building and the bottom right lets you save, load, clear or repeat a queue. This is the Blueprint creation and editing screen, it has three tabs, the Blueprint list which lets you select blueprints you already created, the Layout View which lets you create blueprints by clicking on the sub tabs on the left and dragging components from them onto the circle in the middle, but ships are limited to a certain number of components, some hulls give you less or more Armour and and amount of components that you can fit inside the ship, the standard hull only allows 15 size 1 components but we could fit in 30 size .50 components or 60 .25 scale components or a mix of all three, we could also have size 1.25 and 1.50 scale components. The third tab is the AI settings tab which help the ships target a specified scale or damaged enemy. This is the System menu, it lets you control a entire star system for more efficient construction and should not require very much detail. This is the research screen the very top of this screen shows the name of what you are researching, the level you are at, how much time is remaining, and how many research points you research a minute (It could also be per second I am not sure), The middle shows you the technology web where you can click on a research genre to start researching it or CTRL+click to queue it to be researched after you finish researching the current level of whatever you are researching, and thats about it for the UI.

Shameless bump
Just for fun heres the screenshot of oyur galaxy of 150 star systems We are that little star near the bottom with the blue ring around it, just for scale.
asked for bump
Build 50 colony ships, let them fly off to wherever. Our goal is to create a 2000 size dreadnought with plasma cannon spam.
That's one small galaxy.
Update 2 Daxil has six planets for us to colonize, which is quite great as we can have a bunch of forge worlds in our home system pretty much right off the bat. I begin by removing one Research lab from our home world and putting 2 space ports and 2 shipyards, as we kind of need the extra labor in the beginning from the shipyards and we need the space ports to put resources into the Galactic bank. The Galactic bank is basically a storage place for resources that all your planets can access if they have a space port, the more spaceports you have per planet and the higher their level the more you can give deposit and withdraw from the Galactic bank. You can also see that I am producing two colony ships to start colonizing part of our home system. What does Facepunch want me to concentrate building on these worlds? Research labs Mines Cities Shipyards Other Do you want me to colonize the rest of the planets too? with the same concentration? Yes No Do you want me to research a weapons tech for some better weapons, or do you want me to focus on techs that will improve our economy? Weapons Economy
Shipyards/economy, soviet union it all up in this bitch quantity over quality
Begin with mines, research labs and have some main worlds with cities. Colonize the rest of the planets. Expand, expand, expand. Improve your economy. Once you're loaded, buy loads of ships and weapons and conquer the universe :v:
Every planet needs a few cities to provide population to run every building but Ill make a note to have a few "city worlds"
What does Facepunch want me to concentrate building on these worlds? Research labs <-- Mines <-- Cities Shipyards <-- Other Do you want me to colonize the rest of the planets too? with the same concentration? Yes <-- No Do you want me to research a weapons tech for some better weapons, or do you want me to focus on techs that will improve our economy? Weapons Economy <-- (Economy first or you'll never have good weapons)
Mini update #4 Both Ships have successfully colonized Daxil VI and Daxil III I assigned Daxil VI the ADV. parts governor, since those are a very important ship building resource I assigned Daxil III the Economics governor to help increase our economy a lot faster.
Star Ruler is the new CPU benchmark tool.
