is there one?
if so, post it here.
i've tried mount and blade warband. the graphics look dated but acceptable, however the animations are god awful. it only has versus mode too.
would be actually interesting to see if there is an mmo that isn't just a bunch of pink colored fashion models running around with boob armor and bikinis.
Realistic medieval MMO's would be boring as shit.
99% of everyone would be peasants fighting other peasants. Or you trying to grow crops so the Baron doesn't come by and rape your wife and beat your kids.
Also, No. Close as you'll get to anything is Mount and Blade.

Because obviously those would be two core parts of the gameplay.
Ugh, this whole "wtf REALISM = BORING!!!!!!!!!!" nonsense is getting really old. Realism is just a gameplay style and mechanic; it has nothing at all to do with what the core gameplay would be about in any way whatsoever.
Also, it's real funny when people come up with these outrageous poor "examples" that most of the time have little to no relevance to what the original person would be looking for, and any sane game developer would know better than to do.

Yeah. Realism = Real. If you want the gameplay style and mechanics to be real, Then they'll have to attribute to every day life. Which means, picking crops and slaving the day away and the other types fighting other peasant armies.

Uh
Not really.

realism [ˈrɪəˌlɪzəm]
n1. awareness or acceptance of the physical universe, events, etc., as they are, as opposed to the abstract or ideal
2. awareness or acceptance of the facts and necessities of life; a practical rather than a moral or dogmatic view of things

That's beside my point. Realistic games tend to only focus on the combat aspects, not the general monotonous bullshit aspects. Even then there's so many factors and variables that a good game developer could implement those in some way and still have it be entertaining.
By the way, some of the funnest games i've ever played are extremely realistic. That alone says something; it's all a matter of taste.
Even without the slaving away in the fields the combat would more than likely be peasant armies with a few knights there.

No it's not. If you want a Realistic Medieval MMO. That's what it's going to be like. Unless you plan on making everyone a Knight with enchanted armor and swords that can go through plate armor. Knights where very few. And when they showed up, They where the people commanding the peasant armies.
Believe me, If I saw any Medieval MMO game that came near to Realism where I had to take a mace to someone in plate armor that cost them two years worth of grinding to get. I'd get down and suck it's dick.

There's way too many variables and factors to just come to a conclusion that any concept would or could be boring.
Answer OP's fucking question.

No it's not. It's TWO major things. It can't be very real if they take what was really happening and they throw it out the window.
Answer OP's fucking question.
Already did. It's a No. Unless he wants to just play Mount and blade because that's the closet thing I can think of. But he'd already said he doesn't care much for it. So I guess he's out of luck.
I would say Mortal online but it just isn't ready yet.
Also with Mount and Blade Warband you can play CRPG.
Darkfall The only problem is the combat is too fast you have to keep running to survive or face dieing, Feels arcadey.

You didn't read my post, did you?
Why are you jumping to such outrageous conclusions about the other gameplay factors? Who said there would be grinding to get some awesome piece of equipment? How are you going to judge that the peasant battles couldn't have some gameplay merit on a strategic and tactical level? Shit, some of those details aren't even realistic to begin with.
Game design doesn't work like that. You take basic concepts, and work from that going down to the smallest possible details.
I mean god damn, we haven't even adressed what genre this would be within.

Yeah, Peasant battles would have gameplay merit if you where a Knight, Then you would be commanding them. But not everyone would be a Knight.
And I'm well aware Game design doesn't work like that, which is why alot of games don't ever come close to realism because going. "okay, there is a war in the middle east and there is guns and you need to take cover." Isn't very realistic like most people think it is.
The game would get very stale very quick if everyone was a Knight and the combat was realistic, because everyone be running around with a suit of armor and a mace to counter anyone else.
Medieval MMO sounds like a Genre to me. But maybe if OP was abit more detailed in his post It'd help.

The reason I say Realism is not Reality is because Realism in itself as a gameplay concept generally only involves the combat aspects and maybe some other things such as the setting's parameters, but not necessarily the premise and core focus.
For example: A medieval MMO RTS where the user has to build up resources in realistic manner, and where the large scale combat mechanics behave like so. Sure there could be some elements that aren't of a same or similar level of realism, but that's beside the gameplay's premise and core focus.
THAT is my point. In retrospect I will admit that I didn't make it very clear what it was, though.
There's way too many variables and factors to just come to a conclusion that any concept would or could be boring.
I never said it would be boring. I just said that it would generally consist of two armies made mostly of peasants fighting. For instance a lot of the time fleet fights in EVE consist of a lot of battleships but that's not to say it's not fun. (this is of course subjective)
World of Warcraft :downs:

^ This guy has no sense of humor.
P.S. Chill, i don't play and never played WoW.
Try Mount And Blade
this is your best bet
You could always try LOTR's, or EQII, they're not medieval but share common characteristics i guess.
There is no realistic medieval mmo. All of them have fantasy elements.
I actually think Runescape does a good job with the realistic medieval artwork in some places.
At least Runescape's art style doesn't fall into the World of Warcraft or pseudo anime Korean MMO camp, in terms of art style.
"I say, you knave, get off my fields or I'll have your throat slit and your wench raped within an inch of her life!"
"Oh please sir, forgive me, I praise you m'lord!"
"Guards! Kill this man for treason!"
Yes. Realistic. :D
