If there's one thing I can admit to, it's the fact that I am a huge noob in Warcraft 3, and especially DotA. But I really want to learn how to be good. I've watched a few frends of mine play, and it looks like a lot of fun. I'm not really the strategy gaming-type either, but like I said, I'd like to learn. So, I know the basics of DotA. You're either a Sentinel or a Scourge fighting to defeat the opposing side. By doing that you have to destroy the enemies' tower, which is either Tree of Life, or The Frozen Throne. There are usually five players on each team, being a Hero which has a skill that can be Strength, Agility or Intelligence. There are also many bots running around for each team which are much weaker than the players. These are often reffered to as "creeps" and are basically there to give the other team exp. And that's basically all I know. I tend to try and be tactical, but I have the feeling that I'm too offensive, and therefore get killed way too fast. So any tips about heroes, items, tactics, etc? Anything you might know that's not listed above will be accepted greatly. Thanks guys.
-Don't do anything stupid. Unless you know what you're doing, you should generally be defensive and let the towers do the dirty-work. When the creeps health is low, you should go for the killing blow, earning xp and money. -Be aware where the enemies are. If you don't see anyone, don't do anything stupid. -TEAMWORK. Report when someone isn't in your lane, or if you see 5 players having fun with your butt. DotA and games of the same genre has a shitton of glossary that is good to know. Look it up. - Bite the apple and ask your friends to help you. If they want to help you, expect the teamwork-part to be fun. - Pick one character, and learn his abillities, strengths and weakness etc. - Basic knowledge of items. - Don't do anything stupid. Some of these points is probably not right, but it will at least help you get decent in playing. I don't play DotA, but i've played my share of LoL and HoN. ..Or you could just google for answers.
