I remember playing all kinds when I was younger, but I just stopped for a reason, and I only play shooters in my spare time, but now it feels boring after playing any FPS game after 10 minutes or something (CS:S, TF2, BF:BC, MW2). I'm looking for something that will stay fun for a long time and won't wear out in a month or so. So if you could be kind, could you please post which strategy games stand out from the crowd, and why you find them to be so good? Multiplayer or singleplayer honestly doesn't matter, anything goes. One of the games I also enjoyed a lot back then was Pharaoh on my old slow notebook. Thanks! (User was banned for this post ("Post your, again" - Orkel))
If you enjoyed Pharaoh then you'll love Zeus. It's basically a Greek Mythology version of it. However if you're looking for real time strategies that involve fighting against opponents I would recommend Starcraft or Company of Heroes. Starcraft is a great futuristic game with three diverse races that all play differently, and Company of Heroes is a great WWII game with an awesome destruction and cover system for your units.
Warcraft 3, great storyline and has pretty good gameplay, too. The multiplayer is very populated and full of mods, if a tad DOTA saturated. You'll love the orc shamans. Bloodlust is the shit.
Command and conquer generals, Install the shockwave mod and you have an unbeatable strategy game
