This mod just came out, this mod has been looking very promising so yeah I think it needs a thread.
This is it. The moment has arrived, Underhell Chapter 1 is out now, I was starting to believe this day would never come. When I set out to create this game, I had absolutely no clue what it would become. I was just a 15 year old kid with a story in mind, some cool action scenes, and lots of hope! Well here we are, 8 years later, Underhell Prologue was released over 2 years ago now, and today we release Underhell Chapter 1. The Prologue has seen massive improvements since then. We have created many custom systems (inventory, free aim, dismemberment, iron sights, etc...) thanks to our coder Charly. Underhell Chapter 1 has a level of production that far exceeds the Prologue with 24 voice actors with over 3500 lines of dialogue, nonlinear levels, secondary quests and randomized loot. Some of the decisions you make might not have a direct impact on Chapter 1, but every player choice is saved and stored at the end of the game, meaning I will be able to import them directly to the new chapters. I can't even begin to describe how this feels, and that's because I don't know it myself, I have been on this auto-pilot mode for the past 2 years, where I would focus entirely and dedicate all my efforts to make this game possible. I'll start feeling the real effect in a couple of days I suppose. Testing such a game required a tremendous amount of effort, and I am sure there are still bugs and glitches lying around somewhere.
So I don't know if this mod is good or not but the videos they released for it made it seem really fun. http://www.moddb.com/mods/underhell
Does it have a less shitty day job?
Does it have a less shitty day job?
looks decent enough.
Looks great I wonder if Spike and Barley will record it
Been playing this, apparently it starts off on a remastered prologue sequence, so far it's really really fun. The shotgun is the best sounding shotgun I have heard in a game. Guns are really loud.
Man, prologue was two years ago? Seems like nothing.
This is an event in the actual Chapter 1, The house is not the only place with scares now. Also this is a fucking long mod. Im 7 hours in and I am just about to finish act 4 out of 6.

I was hoping the campaign remained separate from that.
Fuck, I'm a huge wimp when it comes to horror games. I was hoping the campaign remained separate from that.
Its not entirely scares and its not cheap ones either, dont worry.
HOLY SHIT ITS OUT FINALLY
This looks amazing
Its not entirely scares and its not cheap ones either, dont worry.
As long as there's no jump scares or screamers.
i reckon everyone should give this a go, it reminds me of fear and resident evil, look past some of the aesthetics and you'd probably enjoy it the story might get to sound kinda b movieish but its really well set up, and i really do like how theyve gone to give the characters some depth [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline]
As long as there's no jump scares or screamers.
its more about eerie environments, and some of the ugly mapping kinda adds to that, but nah youll have enough guns and ammo [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] but its not like youll die of a panic attacking or something
As long as there's no jump scares or screamers.
-Rate this dumb-
I'm enjoying it so far, but hiding doesn't work at all. They just run around in the room you're in. Once you get spotted that's pretty much it until you kill them or manage to out run them somehow.
Is it just me or are those dream parts in those metal hallways REALLY fucking boring and dumb? They're pretty much all just walking in some direction at the speed of a goddamn snail and sometimes doing that thing where you hide and that dumb looking model runs in, plays a dumb sounding scream and runs out.
Yeah, are you actually required to do the dreams to progress, though?
Just finished the mod. Probably the best mod I've ever played. What's so funny?
Yeah, are you actually required to do the dreams to progress, though?
Yup, there was no truck outside to continue the proper game and there's also a few in the [sp]prison[/sp]

The rest of the mod is pretty fantastic. I wouldn't say Nightmare House 2 or Black Mesa Source tier, but still really good and memorable. Maybe even more interesting and memorable than Nightmare House.
just finished the prologue..holy shit taht ending it blew me i know it has been asked before but do we REAAALLY need to do the dreams to progress?, becouse i tried the first one and i instantly alt-f4ed im a pussy when it comes to scary stuff :V
Underheck Chapter 1
If you want to skip straight to chapter 1 just use the chapter selection
I was looking forward to Chapter 1 for awhile, but why in the hell is there no saving option? I have to go 40 minutes between save points without knowing where it will be? The mod is relatively easy so that's fine, but I just want to quit before I get to the end of a section I have to replay 20 minutes of the mod and re-explore the same areas to get items that I want. It really sucks this is becoming a trend in games, Infinite did it too and it's annoying for a game that focuses a lot on exploration. Also the story gets kind of pretentious in Chapter 1, it feels like he just wants to make a movie and not a fun game anymore. The quality is still pretty good, aside from the very laggy maps and brush based cabinets and drawers and everything. Also in the Prologue he boasted saves carrying over. But like, the house isn't how I left it anymore and I really don't want to redo all that stuff again.
Did they actually remake the prologue? In all honesty I didn't play the original prologue, but I watched a playthrough of it a long time ago and this 'remake' seems practically identical. There's still a clock made out of Hammer brushes.
[sp]So the dude we all saw get sliced in half came back, talks with a different voice, and has different color subtitles and no one raises an eyebrow.[/sp] ok. The more I play this, the more this feels like one of those early mods when people were just starting to grasp using source, like strider mountain or something. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you.
It's funny you say that since at the end (Warning Big Big Spoilers) [sp]It's shown that the whole story is through an unreliable narrator, namely Jake making shit up because he wants to live out his fantasies. So I just assumed that the really fantastical stuff was just Jake stretching the truth to the Government Agents at the end.[/sp]

The guy that came back is not Hispanic and you saw him at the start.[/sp] Also it does feel rushed and cheaply made and blocky and I wish he would go back and remodel a ton of stuff. But it's hardly Strider Mountain quality. And at least the gameplay is original and cool. And really, did no one play the prologue when it came out two years ago?
So well im kinda stuck right now Finished prologue, im back at my house but i cant find the kitchen door keys im fairly sure i alredy searched the whole house and nothing
