The only downside to this is you have to run Raptr while playing CoD to get the hours recorded.
Look at the individual prizes... play 1 hour for a Raptr T-shit - play 30 to get a Kinect?
This sounds too good to be true. Raptr is real though, I've used it before.
Oh wait, this is in competition with everyone else? Whoever plays 1 hour first?... but it says invidual and global prizes.. so.
Oh fuck, nvm..
SELECTION OF WINNERS; ODDS. Winners will be notified by e-mail and must respond within seven (7) calendar days or an alternate winner will be chosen. Winners will be notified no later than Dec 1st, 2010. Winner will be randomly selected from among all eligible entries received. Only entries received within the time frames described above that contain the required information will be considered eligible entries. If a milestone is not reached before the end of the Giveaway, Raptr will not give away the prize corresponding to that milestone, e.g., if 3 million global hours have not been reached before November 21st, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST, the computer prize will not be given away. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received. All winners will be chosen after the end of the giveaway.
I'll pass.
Pretty sure that's for the "chance" to win.
Pretty sure that's for the "chance" to win.
Yeah, found out.
But.. might as well.. since people who preordered are going to play CoD quite much.
I think a T-Shirt and Gunner Shades are enough for me
so, signed up. I predict VAC bans unless they talked to steam beforehand.
Uh, VAC bans for what?

A program injecting itself into the game to show an overlay.
[editline]6th November 2010[/editline]
Don't get me wrong, I have overlays disabled.

Yes, this game has to hack steam dlls to have an overlay window. Xfire and Fraps are worse, they hack your password too.

Are you guys stupid? A program injecting into a steam protected exe is enough to ban you.
I don't think this injects into the exe, does it? I've used a similar program for some play-games-for-points thing and it didn't.
[editline]5th November 2010[/editline]
Either way I don't have CoD so guess I don't have a chance

Are you fucking with us? Then everyone who ran Xfire ever while playing TF2 would be banned.
Computer lesson: Xfire runs as a separate program to make that overlay and create it's own window over the game. Even the Steam overlay will start a completely new process on your computer.

It doesn't fuck with any memory or anything so why would it. All it's doing is creating an overlay and tracking when and for how long a specific .exe is running.
All I see you do is spout bullshit that you don't know about.

VAC doesnt ban Xfire because its programmed not to. You know how Punkbuster kicks for the steam overlay in some games? Thats because its detecting a injection that is not approved for that version of it.
Time to rename explorer.exe to callofduty.exe...

VAC protected game on vac enabled server you mean?

I don't know about xfire, but steam overlay does inject into game exes. It hooks into your dx/opengl display.
I know because if you run stuff like max or maya from steam, the overlay thingy will pop up in the viewport.

It will also start it's own process.

Generally, a program has to have its own process to do anything, include inject into others.

Oh my God. You are just an ignorant fuck with absolutely no idea how things work.

Ok, mister all knowing, explain to me how it works.
go somewhere else this isn't the thread for your stupid whining
Well, this thread certainly became pathetic fairly fast.
He is claiming I dont know anything but cant tell me what the correct information is. Huh, strange how that works.
All of you:
:frog:
Your "injection" theory is bullshit and makes me want to have a brain aneurysm.
Played MW2 for a few hours and I'm just fine. No VAC bans, nothing
VAC won't ban you for Raptr, it has to be told what to ban for first, and Valve has known about Raptr for ages, Valve were even trying to fix a bug that happened when running Raptr causing Steam to freak out a couple months ago on the Steam forums
I fail to see why signing would be a bad thing. I'm gonna play black ops regardless of if I sign up or not.
So yeah sure signing up who knows I might get lucky.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PunkBuster#Incompatibilities
Valve's Steam overlay will also cause PunkBuster enabled servers to kick the user, forcing the user to disable the service before starting the game. Even Balance refuses to fix the issue citing updates made to the overlay as the problem. According to a Valve employee, Valve has tried to reach out to Even Balance in the past to try and remedy to the issue to no avail.
Punkbuster is shit.
