Portal 2 not working.

Okay so I recently bought Portal 2.
The game loads fine and the menu works fine, but when I try to play the game it all crashes and displays an error message saying "Portal 2.exe was stopped working"
I've tried reinstalling the game and restarting my machine. I also pirated the game before I bought it, so I could see if it worked on my machine, it did just fine.
Any suggestions on how to make it work?

True, but Mods ban for discussing Warez.

I would say that you should check if your pirated version is interfering with your current version in any way. That's the most I can say without going more in-depth into warez discussion.

I deleted the folder that the pirated version was in, still no luck.
