I bought BF2 this weekend, can't play on older servers? Help!

So this weekend, I bought BF2 from Fred Meyers because my friend has it and we wanted to play together. When I installed it, my version of the game was v1.1.2551.0. My friends version was 1.0.(forgot the rest). He has hundreds of servers on his list with hundreds of people playing, while I only have 4-5 with no one playing.

Is there a way for me to downgrade to his version of the game? I've tried installing the 1.50 patch but it says I already have the latest version.

1.5 is incremental, you need 1.41 installed prior

If you have 1.50, shouldn't it say 1.5.3153-802.0 because that is what mine says and it is on 1.50. Obviously you should try to upgrade it looks like.

It is for Battlefield 2142.

Battlefield 2 is only at 1.5.

Whoops! I meant to say you need the 1.41 patch. :downs:

No, but there's really no point. 1.5 adds both of the booster packs plus as many maps as have come in previous patches.

Well I'm more worried about the servers, not the content. The version that my friend is playing on has hundreds of servers to play on. Do you know if many people play on 1.50?

BF2 is still very much active, as for PR I'm not sure but I think it's quite active aswell.

I recently bought the game as well (on steam), I was very happy to see that there are still plenty of servers avaiable (even with 64 players in them).
