Hellgate: London is back again as a F2P game being published by T3Fun.
Hellgate: London is a dark fantasy themed action role-playing game originally developed by Flagship Studios, released on October 31, 2007. It was developed by a team headed by former Blizzard Entertainment employees, some of whom had overseen the creation of the Diablo series. In 2008 Flagship Studios filed bankruptcy and all intellectual property was seized because it was used as collateral for funding received from Comerica Bank. Subsequently, development of the game halted. Namco Bandai Games provided free ongoing US/EU server support in the fall of Flagship Studios until 31 January 2009, when the US/EU multiplayer game servers and websites were taken offline. HanbitSoft has since acquired properties to the game and has redeveloped it as Hellgate London: Resurrection. As of June 2011, Hanbitsoft's redesigned game is currently live in Korea, and the North American release, published by subsidiary T3Fun, has undergone (closed) beta testing and open beta testing commenced on June 30, 2011 as free to play.
Factions/Classes
Templars are of an order of divine warriors who wish to preserve humanity and smite the Great Dark that has fallen upon the world. Their two classes are Guardians and Blademasters.
-Guardians are the tanks, wielding a sword and shield and heavy armor.
-Blademasters are the melee DPS, wielding 2 swords.
Cabalists are seekers of knowledge who want to control the fate of mankind by studying the Great Dark and using their powers. Their classes are Summoners and Evokers.
-Summoners are the healing/support spellcasters.
-Evokers are the elemental/damage spellcasters.
Hunters are highly trained ex-military operatives who have been through almost every warlike scenario imaginable. Marksmen and Engineers are their classes.
-Marksmen are the ranged DPS, wielding either 2 pistols or a rifle.
-Engineers are the support ranged DPS, similar to Marksmen except they can summon drones.
Impressions:
I don't notice anything that's game changing in the item shop, and the gameplay is unique as a ranged because rather than just pointing and clicking monsters and sitting there, you have to play it as a TPS/FPS (FPS since you can zoom the camera into first person with gun models and everything) and shoot.

BeardyDuck - Yrran - Engineer
Fkpuz - Fkpuz - ???
Holy shit, this is back? I got the demo once off a magazine and thought it was great, but when I looked it up it said the servers were down permanently.
My god the trailers for this are amazing.

It's almost exactly the same as it was when it went down, but with lots of engrish.
Remember there's a pass you have to purchase to get pass a certain act in the game now. Can be bought via ingame money (not sure how much) or via item shop.

I wanna say it's about 400k in-game cash. It's seriously just easier to buy it with the $4.
400k doesn't seem like much, considering i already have 11k at level 6 and the crazy amount of loot that drops.
Fucking love this game and i missed it.
For free, I'm not gonna pass it up, considering I heard it was good, just unpopular.
For free, I'm not gonna pass it up, considering I heard it was good, just unpopular.
Eh, it always felt like it could have used another half a year in development, and it still does.

Remember the game's been live since its original launch, just not in the west. Even when Flagship shut down the western servers, the Asian servers kept going.

That's my point. They've had it all these years, and still feels just as unpolished.
Eh, it always felt like it could have used another half a year in development, and it still does.
Well for free, I'm sure it will fit in fine.

It even feels kind of unpolished even for a free game. I think I'll play it some more but it is hilarious that they could think that they could get away with charging for this game.
The only way I will play this game again is if they have fixed the "random map generation" rather than making it "okay so you've done this level before but instead of spawning on the left, you spawn on the right, we made the sky green instead of orange and added a new enemy"
I just played a good 2 hours as a Marksman and I'm enjoying it.
The game has a inventory system like Deus Ex where you have to "fit" shit in your bag and I love it. The combat is alright, but on Nightmare difficulty it keeps me on my toes. Fun little game for being free - I've seen no F2P limitations short of a "Premium Shop" button staring at me as I play.
Plenty of money to go around already and I've got one hell of a good gun. I'm sure I'll play this for a few more days yet.
If you aren't warded off by engrish or poor graphics, pick this one up.
Wow. they really butchereed what story there was of the game;- and removed DX10. Which is a shame, i loved the story.

And they turned Murmur from a dapper gentleman to some poseur with stupid anime hair.

Yeah, not liking the hairstyles but it was Korean for a while so it was bound to happen.
Either way, as is, it's a (mostly) quality free game.
I loved this game when it first came out. I actually still have my disks and just play it SP from time to time. It's a shame it went down like it did, it definitely had potential. So the F2P version is pretty much the same?

I've seen some vids of the old game. Gameplay remains largely the same, but you'll notice some differences with characters and layouts of zones.
Been playing marksman, pretty fun so far. I pretty much steamroll everything except for the messengers. Level 9. Name is Agasio if anyone wants to add me to their list.
What is the gameplay like in this? In some videos I watched, it seemed like using guns works like it does in a shooter, where you have a crosshair and pressing the fire button just fires the gun, is it really like that?
yes
this game was always F2P, you only had to buy it
like Guild Wars
They should really promote this game with Steam's Free-to-play uh promotion. Hell, it's better than some of the things on there...
Regenerative bosses can go eat a dick, you have to "kill" them 3-4 times before they actually go down.
Also I had another boss that had rotting and healthy on it at the same time, I was gonna get a screenshot, but I killed him too fast. In other news, level 10.

Consistency is key with regenerators.
I find that my high damage sniper rifle modded to hell and back can bring most bosses down to their knees in like 5 shots, but if it's a regenerator, I use my XM55 to chew through them consistently. Works much better.

Well it's not like I can kill them that quickly. They replenish their health at 17% or so and I can't get em down fast enough, so I have to get em down again and again until they die.

Yeah but I'm sayin' it seems like consistent damage is the key
add me on steam and we can party together
