Welcome to Orbiter. Orbiter is a Space Flight simulator that is FREE!
Not only is it free, Its fun! And educational i guess. Orbiter is one of the most funnest space sims i played to date.
Cool! Where is this website!
http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ It was recently updated to 2010. So its got some new stuff to explore if you haven't played for a while.
Awesome! Before i download, Can you show me some screenshots of the program?
Now lets DISCUSS!
Damn it, Orbiter's cool, but you HAD to end the OP with "Discuss"
I love orbiter. I always liked to simulate system failures and try and land safely back on earth.
Yay a new thread! The people over at the programming section should program online mode for this game and we can start an FP server!
Orbiter has official Naturalmotion TrackIR support.
Im gonna try as soon as i get my device done.
Actually, only thing i need now is only one ~50ohm resistor.
I tried to Fly the ISS to the moon once.

(Not by FP mind you)
orbiter multiplayer is pretty lame though, since it takes really much time to get to iss or anything, without even mentioning the moon, which takes days to get there.
so whos hosting?
I remember this. Last time I tried it, I had no idea what to do. Maybe if I reinstall it, I'll suddenly have the powers of space flight.
I re-installed out of being bored.
can i control shit in the cockpit with the mouse?
can i control shit in the cockpit with the mouse?
Yes, but when they say simulator, they mean "as close as you can get without actually building and flying one yourself". The learning curve to this is pretty much 90 degrees.
Obligatory screenshots of mine from past threads
Undocked and orbiting the moon, earth in the background, looking for a place to touch down to setup a base

I landed a bit rough...Actually it wasn't rough at all, it's just fragile. Was barely a bump, and it's still in working order really, Time to setup camp

Camp includes a beacon for the larger ship to land automatically with the rest of the cargo, and a couple environmental modules. The basics of what a small ship can pack

Alright, she's on approach with the rest of the goods

Really get a sense of scale of this thing

And she's landed. You can notice the rest of the cargo in the center of the ship ready to be unpacked and deployed

You can get to the ISS fairly quickly, as long as everyone launches for it at the right time, say 15 minutes after you start, everyone gets in, ready to go, and you all leave, from there it takes about an hour and a half from take off to dock, assuming you don't have to chase the ISS/ISS Chase you much
Notice the number of seconds that have passed

I've spent an hour trying to do the tutorial on the wiki right :v:
Anyone know of a good 2010 addon with space station building blocks? UMCGO and UMMU compatible?
Find it and you are my heeeeero
No matter how hard I try I can never get to the ISS with the Delta Glider IV on the default settings (ISS to Moon). I try to launch when my position is close to the ISS' orbiter but I always end up running out of fuel.
