Good news: the Portal 2 DLC hasn't been delayed. Instead of moving it out of its "summer" release window, Valve is releasing the DLC as late in that window as possible. Speaking to Kotaku at Gamescom, Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi said that the DLC, which includes new maps, leaderboards, and challenge modes, will be released in mid-September. That's "still technically summer," he noted. If you're upset about this DLC arriving later than you expected it to, but still within its stated release window, let us remind you: this is more Portal 2, that Valve is giving you for free. "Thank you" is pretty much the only appropriate response to that. I can't wait!
I was hoping to play this before school starts. :(
It's not summer if it comes out the 23rd or after
Gonna be free ?
It's not summer if it comes out the 23rd or after
23rd is late September. They said mid September.
I gurantee it will come out on my birthday, the first day of fall, September 22nd
Gonna be free ?
"Let us remind you: this is more Portal 2, that Valve is giving you for free" Learn to read the op before you ask questions already answered.
inb4 delay
Dammit Valve.
Who didn't expect this though? Who actually expected a summer release?
Who didn't expect this though? Who actually expected a summer release?
that is a summer release.
It better not be like 5 maps + leaderboards.
Who didn't expect this though? Who actually expected a summer release?
Fall starts September 23rd. It is still summer.
Here's a better question: who actually expects Valve to deliver?
Here's a better question: who actually expects Valve to deliver?
Valve always delivers what they promise.
Now, the time they deliver is another can of beans.
Valve always delivers what they promise.
Except more halflife
Except more halflife
They didn't even announce Ep3, or HL3. How can they deliver something they didn't even announce yet?
Awesome, my birthday is in September, this'll make one hell of a gift. Oh wait it's free.
They didn't even announce Ep3, or HL3. How can they deliver something they didn't even announce yet?
Not true. They constantly referred to a trilogy of episodes and Episode 3 by name. Not in years, mind you, but around the time Episode Two was in development they certainly did. Plus, Episode Three is mentioned directly in the Episode Two commentary.
Awesome, my birthday is in September, this'll make one hell of a gift. Oh wait it's free.
Wouldn't you be getting all your gifts for free? Or do you pay for your own? (Getting money from parents/relatives don't count)
I'd be willing to pay for it, if they would release DLC on time.
I'd be willing to pay for it, if they would release DLC on time.
Wow, another person who doesn't know how to read an OP. They said they are going to release the DLC in summer. Summer ends on September 23rd. Deal with it.
I guess I was correct when I said "VALVe will release it when everyone goes back to school"
Valve always delivers what they promise.
The only exception being L4D1. I remember that little video thing playing at the end of the demo before release. It claimed there'd be a bunch of stuff that never actually made it into the game
I have moved to Canada, and now my Portal 2 copy is blocked, because I bought it in Russia :suicide: Never buy retail again
I love Joystiq (and all modern game journalists) because they can say literally nothing bad. They're like robots programmed to vomit out free advertising in exchange for soap and hand towels with your game's logo on*.
good, DLC i cant play because i keep getting Connection Error (16) while trying to move it from my ps3 to my PC.
