Now I know I might sound like a nerd, but this just doesn't make sense.
I look at Steam, and I see the spotlight. "Okay, I wanna see what's new." I check, and it's Counter Strike: Global Offense. What the fuck Valve. We have been waiting so long just for HL2 Ep3, it's finally been confirmed about a year ago, but now you're making a new counter strike? Why are you doing this? You are basically losing customers for doing this shit.

Antonio
A game that is delayed is eventually good, but a game that is rushed will always be rushed.

Development is primarily going to be handled by Hidden Path, Valve is working on Dota 2 as well, it's not like all their resources are going towards GO, personally I think it's great, just the thing CS:S needed.
Also, Valve owes you NOTHING, they aren't obligated to pursue every fucking whim of every member of the community, get over it. This is the kinda thing people wanted when they heard CS:S was being put on Source 2009.
Valve make the game they want to make. I'd rather Episode 3 is made when Valve want to make it. Not for them have to force it out to meet player demand.
They arn't losing any customers by the way. I didn't see Portal 2 and say 'I'm not going to buy that becuase they haven't released episode 3 yet.'
They can keep as many secrets as they want
Also, TF2 took, what, nine years to make? Better settle in, it's gonna be a bit of a wait...
You know, Valve is a huge company with many employees. There are different teams at Valve that work on different projects. The entire company doesn't work on one game at a time.

Valve doesn't have a lot of employees compared to how big they are though, but it is true, they do have several departments for different games.
Cry some more. A delayed game is delayed for a little while*, but a bad game sucks forever.
*or a long while.
I'm fairly sure they are trying to progress their engine more before they start work on hl3/ep3. They may have not even started working on it. You need to remember this will be the end of this trilogy, they probably want to make the game look as good and as large of a jump in graphics as was hl1 to hl2.
Personally I can wait, the more they improve the source engine before they start working on it the better it will look.

They are a huge company now, they have a team for dota 2, they have a team for CS:GO, they have a team for HL3/HL EP3.
Just because they are coming out with these other games, doesn't mean they aren't working on the next half life, and if its taken this long, im sure it will be great.

Duke Nukem Forever
Too Human
As Shigeru Miyamoto once said:

So Duke Nukem Forever is good then?
So Duke Nukem Forever is good then?
No, but it definitely applied to most of his own games and Valve's games.
Yes, they take a long time but at least it's been consistently proven that the wait and delays actually resulted in a better game.

So how was Too Human?
Claiming that delaying games always makes them better is really a dumb statement.
It's more about the developers work efficiency.

Because I did read re-read the OP's voice with a Mexican accent.
:frogout:
They are going to release it eventually. Shut up and wait.

Isn't that quote from one of Nintendo's Reps?

I never said it always makes them better, the quote I made was Miyamoto's response to the fact that his superiors tried to make him rush his games, numerous times his games were delayed and they turned out better but that doesn't mean it applies to all games in general.
So delaying a game doesn't mean it'll make it better, but neither does saying "hurry up and finish already."
The quote means that if he released it as is without a delay it might be bad and it would always be remembered as bad, but if it's delayed it could turn out better.
He's mad, because he didn't get what he wanted? If life was like that we'd all be ruined.

That wouldn't apply to the OP's post.
The OP is more or less complaining that Valve are flip flopping between too many projects and making an unnecessary wait for it's core series.
Honestly I agree with that, they have gone nearly four years without even acknowledging the game and that is a pretty crude attitude to take with your original fans.

DNF
I know Duke had lots of issues going between companies, but years of hype / lack there of can really ruin a game
