• Making multiplayer mod, need programmers

Hello all! I hope this is the right section. EDIT: I reread the rules and found out it wasn't. Anyway, I am evenly experienced in mapping, general source programming (not C++), audio editing, voice acting, music making, video editing, & making textures. I am wanting to make a multiplayer mod, yet lack the experience to use, (and the willpower to learn) C++. I have basic knowledge, though it's not enough for what I want. The mod I want to make is like this: -Level up based on kills -Gain money with every kill -Buy weapons, armour, and items -Unlock new weapons every time you level up (This will not happen only within one round like CS. It is permanent) That might seem a little typical for today's FPS, but what I thought was special about my idea was the weapons I had invented in my spare time. (They can be VERY crazy and ridiculous, yet perfectly balanced.) They will have attributes such as weight, which affects speed and jump height, and more. Anyway, here's what I'd like help (and dedication) with for my project: -Buy menus -Functional weapons (Yes, I need someone to actually make them work like I want them to) -Customization menus -The level up system -A couple more things around these fields An experienced programmer is what I need. I also need a good modeler, but that's not top priority right now. Possibly some more people who would like to help map, voice acting, audio editing, music, texture making, etc... PM me, reply on this thread, let me know and we can make the dream I've had for 2 years become reality! :D
Threads like this do not typically end well. I would suggest posting some examples of your work to show everyone you are not just wasting their time. Then, someone might consider working for you.
Though I haven't released any of my maps yet, I can show you my music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dXde7ouibo At least you know I have accomplished SOMETHING with that for now.
Have you ever managed a group of workers? Do you know how to manage a team? Are you a convicted felon in any states? Post some pictures of your maps, and textures - making music != making a Source Mod.
If anything, I like your music. It sounds really nice. I'm gonna download your soundtrack if anything, and music has a strong effect on the mod. I hope your mod turns out well at least. [editline]2nd September 2011[/editline] But the thing is, you're asking a bit too much for programmers. That's a lot to handle
Do you realize how a permanent item system would have to work? Either you host it in an item server like Valve does for TF2 (and I think that mod Blade Symphony is doing it to for swords) or you have it be in their game files, meaning I could easily edit the files to have every weapon in the game.
Maybe you could do it the way Modular Combat did it. I don't know how they did it though.
meaning I could easily edit the files to have every weapon in the game.
I did this for an App Store app once :v:
Yes, but my point is that if the OP wants to do this he'll really have to dedicate time and money to have stable item servers.
This thread again. At least its not "Im the ideas guy, you all make the mod and I will take credit."
They can be VERY crazy and ridiculous, yet perfectly balanced.

crazy and ridiculous

perfectly balanced
AHAHAHAHA
HITSCAN/PROJECTILE OR BUST BUDDY
Has the OP abandoned thread?

Anyway, you're being way to ambitious for the reasons already said. Try something easier like a platformer or some rhythm game since you've said yourself you don't how to make games very well.
Alright. I've got some good programmers and mappers that know what they are doing. (Yes I am helping.) Progress seems to be good so far. Well thanks for everyone's advice and... criticism. Makes the mod a better mod! :D
