Quote from my post on the Minecraft forums: I am just your average Minecraft lover, however, I love it so much I feel like I need to contribute to the community as well. And of course, I want to do it by making mods :3 Just to warn you all, I only have a very basic understanding of coding and modding. I watched about 7 videos on how to code C++, until I gave up on it :D. However, from what I've heard and seen, Java seems like it's a tad bit easier, and also a lot more fun. I am willing to deeply indulge myself into Java and programming, but only if I have someone to help me on the way. First of all, I'll need to actually learn Java. That should be done in a flash ^^ Second, I need a trusty partner to help me get started. I already have a few basic, and in my eyes, very easy mods to make. I won't share those ideas here, but I am willing to openly discuss this with my future partner. Thank you!
Can i be the ideas guy?
Here is the thing with making mods for minecraft. The language you learn is not important. After learning to program learning new languages becomes trivial. What really matters is that you create a programmers mindset and develop programming knowledge. Developing a minecraft mod takes a lot of puzzle solving, a lot of reading and a lot of experimentation. If you can't think like a programmer than you won't be able to achieve anything. The next big thing: You need to do this alone. Your looking for someone to do the work for you, this will not achieve anything. No one is willing to create your mod, modding is time consuming, personal and hard. I want you the think about why you want to do this. I know it's sound ridiculous but the following reasons to want to mod minecraft are bad: To learn to program To become famous To impress people. Learning to program takes a long time, don't make modding your goal (yet) - make enjoying programming and learning about programming your goal.
Your looking for someone to do the work for you
Well, the only real reason I wanted someone to work on this project with me was so that I could have an experienced person to help me get out of tight situations. I never wanted someone to work for me, but rather help me. However, I still think I should agree with you one way or another. Maybe I should just start with learning the basics, and see where I'll go from there.
You want someone to help you? I've seen a lot of people say that and none of them actually were willing to fill their half. I'm just taking what I've seen and applying it - which is that you want someone to do work under your command. Your ideas = Your mod = Your control.
