• Which genres fit which platforms?

Which video game genres, in your opinion, regardless of what they are available on, work better on certain platforms? For example, I think Real-Time Strategy games should be designed for the PC due to their interfaces and general way of things, whereas hack-n-slash/beat 'em up games are fairly versatile in the respect that they lack deeper, more complicated skills (you click on things you don't like said things fall over and spurt fluids over the floor) and are suited for both the PC and consoles. There are certain games, like Left 4 Dead, Portal and TF2, which have a certain je ne sais quoi about them, making them harder to play on consoles.Playing L4D on the Xbox was an experience I wouldn't wish to repeat. Games such as Call of Duty, Battlefield and others of its' ilk are fairly simplistic games so are best suited for consoles while still being approachable to PC gamers. RPG games are tricky. Games like Fallout, which employ a heavy shooter mechanic, are generally okay with consoles, but I'd prefer to play them on a PC. Bioshock also has a heavy emphasis on bullets and suchlike, so is still good for consoles. Baldur's Gate and Morrowind, however, are less console-friendly due to the lack of easy to remember mechanics, considering the limits of a controller. Music games are definitely better for consoles due to the heavy involvement of player movement, something the PC can't hope to accomplish. Vehicle simulation games (Microsoft Flight Simulator, Trainz, TIE fighter) are capable of being played on a PC with the right hardware, but a keyboard and mouse lacks the feel of a thumbstick when flying an aircraft or driving a boat. With that said, what are your opinions on the subject?
all games on PC abolish consoles
motion games nintendo wii
motion games nintendo wii
oh sorry all good games on PC gimmicky motion games on Wii abolish other consoles
I think most sidescrollers work better on consoles, along with racing games. Strategy games, FPS, MMO, simulators, and RPG's all work much better on the PC though.
third person shooters with controllers
I don't know why consoles continued to be developed. Prebuilt Sony and Microsoft computers with similar specs to a 360 or a PS3 would be leaps and bounds better than a console, people wouldn't be completely computer illiterate anymore and developers would only have to worry about creating their games on a single platform. and of course people that prefer a controller could use that over a mouse and keyboard

Plus, the PC isn't only for games, you know.
I'd say platformers work better on consoles but it's all the same if you're using a controller.
all games on PC abolish consoles
Here we go.

There are some games that were just meant for consoles. Games in which PC ports suck ass.

I think everything fits everywhere given you have the proper peripheral.

I know you could get a high end one for cheaper but not everyone knows that. Not everyone wants a pc, they probably have a relatively low end PC for general life task use, and then a cheap console that doesn't lack any games, is able to play all newer games, and also acts as a dvd player.
To be honest a better question would be - what control scheme suits what genre. You have to remember that the PC is able to work perfectly fine with a console control scheme but not vice versa. I'd say that essentially everything but platformers and games that require pressure based keypresses work on a KB and mouse better.

I mostly play FPS, Strategy, Indie and RPG so PC cuts it for me.

read back a few posts, I was kidding with that, I know that people prefer using a console and I was trying to be sarcastic with the matter because a lot of these kind of threads start with PC gaming master race plastered everywhere I fucked up the internet sarcasm, sorry
Fighting games, party games, arcade games and racing games are always more fun on consoles.
The only genre I just have to play on a console (or at least with a controller) are platformers.
use italics then.
I'll try that one next time, you lonely unloved dick.
i used to always say that I would get racing games on consoles, however with Dirt 3 and F1 I just can't be doing with the 30 fps cap on consoles and as such have bought them on PC EDIT: should say I use a steering wheel for all racing games so it is really actually beneficial for me to get them on PC from now on.
Platformers, Sports, and Racing games are all best played on a console (or at least with a controller) Everything else the PC does better
Keyboard/Mouse: FPS, RTS, Third-Person Shooters Game Controller: Fighting, platformer, racing Doesn't matter: RPG, puzzle, arcade My method is: if you have a PC that can run a game on higher graphics on a console, get it on the PC. Don't like the control scheme of a keyboard and mouse? Plug in a keyboard.
Racing = Console FPS = PC Just my thoughts.
Enough with this PC elitism. There are some games that were just meant for consoles. Games in which PC ports suck ass.
I can't think of a single crappy port that was bad because it was ported to PC. All crappy ports either: Weren't optimized or tested on a large enough variety of specs. Rushed and made to only work with the bare minimum. Cut important features just to get it released faster for maximum cash. Were just bad games to begin with.
PC is good for First person shooter and starcraft type games, Consoles are good for party, Racing, And Fighting games.
