• Which file(s) are necessary to back up in order to preserve Steam's offline mode?

I've heard that Steam has a habit of slipping out of offline mode and requiring a reconnect to Valve's servers sometimes. My issue is that I need Offline mode to work for at least the next 6 weeks. During that time I will not have easy access to the internet. Are there any files I can backup (Clientregistry.blob?) and then replace if offline mode fails to work? You want offline mode to actually be functional? Have fun with that.
You want offline mode to actually be functional? Have fun with that.
Every time I ran in offline mode, it worked just fine.
You just have to set steam to offline mode while you have an internet connection. Kind of weird but that's how it works.
you can't really back it up, but the secrets to offline-mode actually working is verifying the cache of the game/s you want to play, and setting steam to offline mode before you go offline. that's always worked for me
After you're sure that games can be run in offline mode, backup clientregistry.blob. I am not sure if this trick still works but previously if you marked that file as read only you could use offline mode forever.
1. Finish all downloads (or delete them) 2. Run the games that you want to be able to play offline, just to get the games verified. Doesn't matter how long they run. 3A. Switch to Offline Mode or... 3B. Start Steam on that same computer without an internet connection connected. 4. Play your Steam games in offline mode 5. ??? 6. Don't Profit [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] Always worked for me.
